FS is the last defense so to speak.. but yeah IMO if your LB/CB are good you can go for INT all the time.. if you miss oh well your LB's and CB's will take care of em. Doesnt mean you wont be able to tackle people...

I agree. Currently I have my guys to "INT with cover" to protect my CBs are are trying to go for the INT. Having very high vision helps, especially my FS jumping on a 3WR's route.

When I say stats, I mean a lot of stats. Of course everyone knows INT's/PD's are great. However, if you are making a LOT of tackles as the FS the rest of the defense isn't doing its job or you are getting beat in coverage.

Well... what if...

All those tackles were TFL? Those are good stats.

BTW I do know that a FF behind the LOS is not counted as a TFL but does a TFL get counted as a tackle or not?

My FS play 1 on 11. Those would be good tackles.

Come on, use common sense. You know exactly what I'm talking about.

Well as a FS most of my tackles I get are on Special teams. My speed, agility, and vision make get me to the ball carrier first. As for tackles in the backfield I would sooner they not even get close to me haveing to make the play. I find my player hitting the ball about the same time the CB is makeing the tackle. Which works for me

I had 0 tackles last game and I'm quite happy with it... 62 snaps and they didn't come near me!!! that's the mark of a good FS.. you DON'T want stats on your FS that means someone somewhere else is messing up...

or maybe your safety isn't getting plays it should be

either or?

No. I agree with him. I did the same thing, and we shut them out. Our team did what we needed to do. I let up no big plays at all.

getting 0 tackles doesn't make your safety amazing it means the rest of your defense is amazing

This is how an FS should be getting his tackling stats, as the final line of defense, a last resort...

nothing wrong with a safety getting tackles on plays that aren't 20+ yards like 5-8 yard gains

Personally i think all FS should play close when in man to man b cuz ur usally covering a TE and if you dont have the ability to keep up with a TE then u really dont need to be the teams last line of defense

I've messed with the settings on my FS and have found that wrap up, stick like glue, and intereception only with help over the top work the best by far. My guy is all pass coverage though, as he's got all vision speed and agility and not too much in anything else.

Personally I prefer my FS getting his tackles like this :
