Stellar Idea ... there should also be an option to just create a coach to begin with. Not all great coaches were players of any merit!

it sounds good. what i really want to do though as a player is when my DE retires to be able to become a positional coach and teach the future De/dlinemen. i want somehow his career to rub off on the guys hes coaching so its not so much this is a complete new phase of the game. i want something to be affected by their career.

Offensive Coordinators will assign a % to Run and Pass. The Offensive Coordinator’s Offensive Strategy Attribute determines how much of a boost he gives to that area. This can be increased depending on how the HC has adjusted his focus from week to week.

Might want to fix this - I hate to see a beautiful post with a C&P error

Anyway, this is so well thought out I hate to punch holes in it, but I'll do my best to be nice haha

The part about SA Trees, the Offensive Minded Coach has two SA trees based with offensive performance boosts for the team, while the Defensive Coach only has one, with a Special Teams SA tree tossed in there. Perhaps the S.T. tree should be separated into a S.T. Coach itself, and only have the one SA Tree, as the Kickers/Punters have only one tree to focus on.

Also, while doing that, a Pass Defense-styled SA Tree for Defensive Coaches should be added in place of the now gone S.A. Tree that once was there.

Just my thoughts - other than that, and the generalized numbers you threw out, everything looked great. I say the numbers don't look great because I've never been a 'numbers' person, so I didn't waste my time trying to figure out what the hell they all were supposed to represent haha

I know that part (or most) of the desire to bring about a coaching career after the players career is to avoid the 'loss' of that player, but if this is to become a viable option there still needs to be a limit to number of seasons a player can coach after his career. Why? Well these coaches continue to improve, there would be no way a newly retired player could land a coaching job after x seasons?!

Maybe I'm missing something, but it seems that the supply/demand on this would be imbalanced without such limits.

An epic bump for an epic thread.

I've seen 2 threads bring up similar ideas to this one recently, so I dug through and found this one again (posted on page 117!).

If you have an idea about coaches, just seriously look through this first and see what you can add to it. It's extremely well thought out and Bort said he's going to use some of these ideas already.

I'll wait and see what happens, but this should probably be epic'd for safe keeping.
