Besides, what is it really hurting? By the time it kicks in you have the game well in hand. Is it so bad that your level 55 player isn't DESTROYING a level 20 player for the second half of the game?

If you aren't getting sacks before cruise control kicks in, why would you expect to get tons of sacks if we removed cruise control? There's no logic there.

Create a DE and tell me.

We need a parity fix...

Enough with bandaids like cruise control and trying to pigeon hole stats onto the box score.

Steady partner.

That's not a FIX. De's could suddenly get 100 sacks in every 255-0 game... they'd still be broken if they can't produce against equal competition worth a damn.

However, it'll be a lot easier to figure out what the fuck is wrong with them if we knew they were always playing 100%.

I agree. Since we got the current energy system, cruise control has become pointless. It is time for it to go. But, as with all suggestions, I don't see this one ever even being commented on, let alone acted upon.

Yeah, stats would be even more screwed from playing CPU/gutted teams.

Stats are already screwed for most positions from playing CPU/gutted teams. Would it really be so bad to inflate them more? Considering it may fix D-line problems.

It wouldn't fix the d-line problem, it would just sate the irritated d-lineman owners while further ruining offensive competition.

Especially with the MVP races now kicking in.

Offensive "competition" ceases to exist in blowout games anyways.

What's wrong with sating the irritated d-linemen owners who can't sniff a sack against terrible opponents, while their offensive counterparts put up 10 TDs? Let's just leave them irritated?

Exactly. If there's no competition in blowout games, why not just try to fix that rather than just make it just as bad on the other side of the ball? Would it be fine to just give DEs 100 sacks a game so there can be no defensive competition either?

Also, if you didn't get a sack when you were building that 60+ point lead, you probably aren't going to get one after that either. I have no idea why some people are assuming that removing cruise control would suddenly produce a ton of sacks. All it would do is make offensive stats truly astronomical.

Yeah, especially since energy would only get lower as the game went on, along with morale (with the way it's working [or not working], I wouldn't be surprised).

+1 to this post.

The point is that they're especially impotent when cruise control kicks in, it seems.

I fail to see the importance of stat-padding when you're leading by 60+ points. In the absence of a true mercy rule (which wouldn't be a bad idea - just end games once a lead reaches 100), cruise control is the next best thing. As you said, the important thing is to fix DE/OT interactions against even competition. This is just a misguided outlet for frustration over that not being fixed. It does nothing to solve anything, and arguably would make things worse. I'm not sure how we got from massive forum threads bitching about guts ruining stats to now wanting more stats against guts.
