i'm slightly disappointed that no one has either voiced support for or against my mentor idea. I felt it was a pretty crazy idea that could make the game very interesting.

eh, i like the idea, but we all know that it won't happen unless this game stays around for another 5 years. Bort didn't know what he was getting into when he made this game, so he is still stuck at the basics. Cool idea, but even if it does get epic, it will rot there for a good couple of years.

sadly, you're probably right. Still a nifty idea, i thought. It'd hush the neighsayers of veteran attributes who say its a rich get richer by helping balance it out slightly.

I think you should add the mentor in with the personal trainer, because that is what retired players do a lot, before chris carter took his job at ESPN he did it all year round, now he just does it in the offseason, but he has an entire training complex in boca raton florida, he helped larry fitzgerald while he was in high school, and in college, and many other players that have come into the nfl, arena league, and cfl

they would be picked by the player and would be used basically the same as a piece of equipment.

i don't love your specific ideas, personally - but they are interesting...maybe we will have more ideas once fame has been put in and we've gotten some time to go through it

this is what i was thinking

I actually like the ideas, just could use slight editing, the small details; somebody Epic this!

I changed things to this, tell me what you think!

Connections:
These will be bought once/season. You can only have 2 or 3, based on what positions you hire. The price has still to be set, but I was thinking somewhere between 10K-20K, but it could also be league dependent (BBB costs less than Pro). So somebody who is in higher league will know more people and have more Connections.

Edit: We could also have multiple levels of workers. The higher the level, the better the bonus.
Level 1 worker costs $10K. Normal bonuses.
Level 2 worker costs $20K 1.5x bonuses
Level 3 worker costs $30K 2x bonuses
etc. to Level 5

Personal Assistant: Increase stamina by x% and a +1 to confidence for the season. If you have less to do, you'll be more energized for your game and feel more entitled.

Motivational PA: Doubles morale increases and halves morale decreases. + what the PA does. Limits person to one Connection

PR Representative: This will work into the upcoming fame system. It would increase your players fame by x% based on the # of plays he gets.

Could also increase likelihood to gain $ via endorsement deals, based on both level and fame.

Personal Trainer: increases all intense training by x%.
could be coupled with (ie. when you buy a level 2-3 personal trainer you get a mentor)
Mentor: Having this veteran around would allow you to reach the veteran abilities 1 level sooner/season that he is hired.

Mentor- For 10 bonus tokens, you can get one of the veteran s/a's for your position from your mentor. Would stay for the career of the player (or half of total points added would stay if Mentor stays with you for only one season). Could continue to be upgrades every season with 10 bonus tokens, like adv equipment can be for 8.

Outside Activites:
1 Time cost adds a part-time boost, or possibly long-term if . Cost of these could be determined by the worker you hired. You can only do 1 of these per off day. This helps the rich get richer scenario from happening. Change all of these so you do not lose stamina, because stamina is reset everyday.

Team Bonding Exercise: Increases that players chemistry to the rest of his squad. (this assumes chemistry is based on an individual basis.) Causes a slight hit to stamina, but an increase in morale.

Charity Work: adds a +1 to morale, a medium % to fame, and a temp boost +3 to confidence for 1 game. Slight hit to stamina for the next game.

Endorsement Deals/Commercials: Gives a player a usually expensive equipment piece. The quality of piece is affected by having a PR person and their level as well as your overall fame. Has a chance to increase fame by x% but also has a slight chance to decrease fame x% (ie. the product you endorse causes cancer and hemophilia.) You are allowed 2 of these per season.

Idea from http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=1659860
These could also be performance dependant. ie. If you get x sacks in the next 2 games you get a bonus. Or x tackles. Would make for more interaction between players and coordinators.

Interviews: Boosts fame and veteran by x%. With 3 of these within a 40 day period you make it so a team has less of a chemistry hit for taking you. Slight hit to stamina for the next game. Gain small sum of $.

Any Ideas/Inputs would be appreciated.
