The one-and-done reset is Rimfalk's thing. He has had this passion for Rookie going on at least about 70 seasons now. His teams always compete for league honors. Everyone has their turn-ons so to speak for GLB, and Rookie is his.

I've know Rimfalk since S3. He is the main one who gave me some great tips on getting started. He'll always hold a special place for me. We still talk, some 16 RL years later. He has always been a genuinely nice person and willing to give of himself.

More power to you, my brother

Considering these factors, the game is expected to be close, with the Direwolves having a slight advantage due to their better overall defensive record and consistent scoring ability. The over/under is set based on the combined offensive and defensive performances, with both teams likely to score around their seasonal averages.

thank you for the prediction, was fun to read. I'll add one more thing...

Maybe Athens OC decide to gameplan if the has the time and get a surprise win. But maybe not, because Kangaroos will wait after that so why waste his energy? But who knows what will do!

Thanks King
- and I like how you had helped both me, but more importen many other players in GLB

Like I told Ravenwood, I like to create players, and change their skills each season
The two last season I have put energy in having both a passing and a running game

This year also was more about Agility than speed and my LB-group has been much better
I did try one season with focus on "Confidence" and no it dont work only to trust in CONFIDENCE

I know I have some haters in GLB (not naming anyone), but I just wish them good luck in the Pro

The Capital Times
Volume 1, Issue 1

Thanks for purchasing your copy of The Capital Times, the sweetest smelling news…in the world.

The regular season has wrapped, and the playoff seeding has been set. Sadly, our beloved Ravens did not make the cut this year, being unable to overcome a significant team chemistry hit which we understand was the result of a malignant agent on the team’s equipment staff putting itching powder in the laundry. The mood in the locker room was understandably somber until team owner Ravenwood announced he’d be splurging on punch and pie, at which point, the dots seemed mollified, content to try again next season.

Now, onto our first-round coverage of the Rose Bowl playoffs…

Athens Sea Wasps @ Winterfell Direwolves

Our first matchup features what is already being called a ‘grudge match’ between two teams who’ve come to loathe each other. The Sea Wasps return to Winterfell where they faced the Direwolves in the final game of the regular season. The game turned out to be a one-sided affair, with the Wolves dominating the Wasps 42-3 en route to securing the 2nd playoff seed in the Rose League’s Alpha Conference. Whether or not the Wasps were sandbagging is an open question – the Wasps did defeat Winterfell in a much closer match earlier this season. Athens owner and real-estate tycoon Kenshinzen was playing it coy, saying “Maybe we’ll try. And then, maybe we won’t.” At which point, former New York Jets coach Herm Edwards tweeted, “Hellooo! You PLAY TO WIN THE GAME!”

Both squads look evenly matched on paper, with neither team having yet boosted this season. Athens quarterback Dak Prescott has passed for over 3900 yards while running back Jomar ‘Terminator’ Blanco has been a dual threat, pounding the rock on the ground for almost 1500 yards and 32 touchdowns while amassing 62 receptions for almost 700 yards and 11 touchdowns. They’ll be up against a stingey Winterfell defense which ranks 2nd in the conference for passing yards allowed, rushing yards allowed, and points given up.

Lincoln Cornhuskers @ PVAC Gofers

Turning our attention now to the Beta Conference, the scrappy Lincoln Cornhuskers roll into the Gopher Hole where they’ll face the top-seeded PVAC Gofers. The Gofers have been a force this season, and dominated the Cornhuskers both times they’ve met. Gofer quarterback ‘Earthquakes and Lightning’ is capable of hurting you both through the air, and on the ground. His completion percentage of 72.9 percent is almost as impressive as his 420 rushing yards. He’s a dot that’s likely keep the Lincoln DC up at night.

While the Gofers appear on paper to be the superior team, Lincoln might yet have an ace up its sleeve. As of the time of this writing, PVAC appears to have boosted, while Lincoln appears to be keeping its powder dry. Will a last-minute team boost give the Huskers the juice they need to get them over the edge? Only time will tell.

Santo Padre Mayans @ Brasilia Bawlers

Staying in the Beta Conference, we turn our attention now to the first-round matchup between the Mayans and the Bawlers, as Santo Padre visits the Esplanda dos Ministérios. The Bawlers took the ‘W’ in both regular season matchups, but they were both closely fought affairs. The Mayans appear to not be familiar with the rule that allows teams to move the ball on the ground, having called just 21 rushing plays all season long, and instead, electing to pass on 98 percent of their snaps. Fortunately for the Mayans, they boast the super-productive (if not terribly originally named) pivot, ‘Mayan QB1’, who has thrown for a league-leading 6,061 yards and 90 touchdowns.

Brasilia is no slouch on the defensive side of the ball, however. Lining up opposite Mayan QB1 will be LB Stephan Sweet, who is among the league’s sack leaders with 13 on the season. He’ll be joined by teammate FS Rolando Velazquez, who was also in the chase for league honors for both tackles and tackles-for-loss, with 119 and 18 respectively. This one promises to be a great matchup!

Glendale Ghosts @ New Orleans Golden Kangaroos

It’s back to the Alpha Conference for our final game preview. This one sees the Glendale Ghosts drifting into the Kangaroo Dome to haunt the Golden Kangaroos, where they hope to upset the only team this season to go undefeated. New Orleans has simply dominated this season – there is no other way to put it. They rank 1st in all the conference offensive rankings, save rushing yards, where they rank a just-as-impressive 2nd overall in the Beta Conference. Interestingly, it was the Ghosts who out-performed the Roos in this metric, finishing with a league-leading 5,348 yards on the ground this season. Ghosts HB Earl Simmons is a favorite for offensive MVP honors, having carried the rock for over 3,400 yards and an eye-popping 60 touchdowns.

Will it be enough though? The Roos are known for their proclivity to re-set each season, preferring to leave everything on the field now, at the expense of future production. It’s a strategy that has proven to work over the regular season, but as everyone knows, if you can make it into the playoffs, anything can happen.

Stay tuned as we continue our coverage of the Rose Bowl playoffs!

Wasps Get Stung

The much-anticipated rematch between Athens and Winterfell had the Sea Wasps returning to Winterfell after their week 16 loss. Two teams appear close on paper, but in the end, Winterfell exploited some defensive gaps to come away with a 51-0 win, advancing to the Alpha Conference Final. The score would have been a lot more lop-sided, but for some stalled drives that forced clutch Winterfell field goal kicker Margaery Tyrell to split the uprights 3 times, going a perfect 3-for-3. In the end though, it proved to be more than enough as the Wolves defense limited Athens to just 103 total net yards to record the shutout. The Direwolves head to New Orleans next week to face the top-seeded Golden Kangaroos.

Kangaroos Hop over Glendale, but only Just

The Golden Kangaroos prevailed over the 4th-seeded Glendale Ghosts, but Glendale made it much closer than the pundits had predicted. The Ghosts kept it within a field goal up until the 4th quarter. At that point though, the Roos pulled ahead, scoring 2 unanswered majors in the final frame to secure the 31-14 victory and a Conference Final date with the Winterfell Direwolves. Glendale can hold their heads high though following this performance. They’ll be a team to watch in the coming seasons.

Bawlers Move Past Santo Padre

Moving over to the Beta Conference, we head now to the Esplanda dos Ministérios where the Bawlers hosted the Mayans from Santo Padre. The Bawlers drew first blood but the Mayans answered back within minutes. The game remained close until the last minutes of the first half, at which point, Brasilia turned on the jets, scoring 3 unanswered touchdowns. The Mayans made a late rally in the 4th quarter but Brasilia hammered home the final nail in the coffin with less than a minute to play in the game. Bawler pivot Toddyn the 3rd threw for over 340 yards en route to the victory. Meanwhile, true-to-form, Santo Padre kept the ball in the air attempting 64 passes which they completed for just over 300 yards. The Bawlers prepare to head to the Gopher Hole next where they’ll face the PVAC Gofers in the Conference Final.

Gofers Claw Their Way to Victory

In what many are calling the ‘game of the week’, the PVAC Gofers scratched and clawed their way to victory over a scrappy Cornhuskers squad from Lincoln. The Huskers were considered the underdogs heading into the Gofer Hole, but managed to keep this one tight, scoring a go-ahead touchdown in the 4th quarter. The Gofers needed 2 field goals to force overtime and avoid the upset. In the 5th-and-final frame, Gofer quarterback Tangerines N Elephants connected with WR Ponder Perpetual Motion for an 80-yard catch-and-go to secure the victory. But this one could have easily gone the other way. The Gofers will now head to the film room to prepare for their matchup in the Conference Final against Brasilia.

Rubber Match in Gofer Nation

Lineups stretched ‘round the block, and the sweet aromas of corndogs and stale beer wafted through the crowd as the PVAC faithful filed into the Gopher Hole, eager to see their beloved Gofers take on the visiting Bawlers from Brasilia. The Gofers survived a near-miss against the Lincoln Cornhuskers in the opening round of these Rose Bowl playoffs, and they knew coming in the Bawlers had punched their own ticket to the Beta Conference Final with a commanding 35-17 victory over the Mayans of Santo Pedro. Tickets to this game sold out quickly, and the Hole was bursting at the seams with a capacity crowd of just over 10 thousand.

The regular season series between these two teams split evenly down the middle. Homefield may have been a factor, with Brasilia taking the first match at the Esplanda dos Ministérios by a score of 35-28, and the Gofers answering back 10-weeks later at the Gofer Hole, winning 15-31. Would rowdy Gofer Nation be enough to tip the balance again?

Following the opening kickoff, the Bawlers wasted little time in scoring their first major, with all-star HB William Gizmo taking a weak-side pitch to the house for the score. https://glb.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=44285&pbp_id=928142 Gizmo would be a key part of the Bawlers gameplan throughout the match, finishing with almost 200 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns. Scrambling pivot Kobi Chase scored next, carrying the rock across the line minutes later to cap a 12-play drive that would put Brasilia up 14-0.

PVAC would not go quietly into the night however. On the ensuing kickoff, CB Up Around the Bend sliced apart the Bawler’s coverage unit, returning the ball 76 yards to close the score to within 7. https://glb.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=44285&pbp_id=928333

The two teams continued to trade punches, each scoring majors on their next possessions. At this point, the Bawlers D decided to take matters into their own hands, with LB Robin Felton sacking Gofer QB Tamborines for a short loss t bring the half to an end. https://glb.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=44285&pbp_id=929011 Brasila picked up where they left off in the 2nd half, with Felton forcing a fumble that would eventually be recovered by the Gofers. https://glb.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=44285&pbp_id=929054 Felton was to be a dominant force all game long, recording 9 tackles and 2 sacks.

The final score was 45-17 in favor of the visiting team, proving that come the playoffs, anything can happen. The victorious Bawlers now set their sights on the Rose Bowl that awaits.

Not So Easy

Meanwhile, on the other side of Dotlandia, the Winterfell Direwolves made their way into the Big Easy to face the New Orleans Golden Kangaroos. The parking lot outside the Kangaroo Dome was filled with tailgaters taking in the late-summer sunshine before the game - a bizarre atmosphere which blended the unmistakeable aroma of crawfish gumbo, served to the droning cacophony of countless didgeridoos. Like their Beta Conference Final hosts the Gofers, the ‘Roos sold out their 16,200 capacity Kangaroo Dome within minutes following their 31-14 victory over the Glendale Ghosts in the previous round. The Direwolves, meanwhile, arrived in New Orleans bursting with confidence, following their first-round domination of the Athens Sea Wasps.

By comparison, the regular season series between the ‘Roos and the ‘Wolves was not so close. New Orleans dominated Winterfell by a combined score of 89-7 over the two games, and pundits have been pondering whether the Direwolves could find a way to narrow the gap.

Alas, the Alpha Conference Final would not be as close a competition as the Beta Conference game. The ‘Roos scored early and often, putting an exclamation mark on their regular season series. New Orleans moved the ball for over 724 net yards while limiting Winterfell to just 57. QB Drew Brees passed for over 700 yards and 9 touchdowns.

The ‘Roos now prepare to host the upstart Bawlers at the Kangaroo Dome for what promises to be an exciting finish to the 108th season! Tickets to the Rose Bowl are likely to sell out fast, so be sure to book early!

GG Roos! And thanks to everyone for a good season. We had some close games, tie games, overtime wins, last minute wins and losses, and some new rivalries. I've only been in a few rookies seasons and this was the most fun so far.
