Some big games today in the Rose League. The Ghosts are going to cruise to an easy victory today over the Reapers, all-but-ensuring a 9-7 regular season record. Meanwhile, the Sea Wasps (9-6) host the Winterfell Direwolves (10-4-1). If the Direwolves can beat the Wasps, Athens and Glendale will each finish the season at 9-7. Glendale and Athens split their regular season series with a game a piece, but the points-scored differential would go to Athens (107-84). You can't get much closer than that, but the Alpha Conference playoff picture may already be set.

Meanwhile, across town in the Beta Conference, the question everyone is wondering is whether the Bawlers can catch the Gofers in the standings. The Bawlers host the Cornhuskers - a team they handily beat earlier this season, 80-17. If they can do it again, and if the Mayans can surprise the Gofers, top spot in the Beta Conference would be up for grabs. The Mayans will be in tough against a solid Gofers squad though. The last time they met back in week 4, the Gofers trounced them in a convincing 63-0 rout. Can San Padre pull one out today and surprise the high-flying Gofers?

Their 42-3 victory locks up the 2nd seed in Alpha Conference for the Wolves, setting up a rematch in the first round between these two teams, who split the regular season series. With the lop-sided loss, pundits are wondering if Athens be able to adjust in time? Were they just sandbagging? Tune in next week to find out.

The Gofers trounced the Mayans in their first encounter this season, 63-0, but the Mayans (who even managed to sneak in a running play this time - very sneaky, Santo Padre!) made it a much closer affair this time around, going down in flames by a mere 69-14.

Different strokes for different folks. rimfalk answered a PM question I had earlier this season (concerning, ironically, promotion to the prep leagues) - information I was grateful to receive at the time because I was still just recently back in the game. In his reply, he added that... "I like the thrill of new players each season, like a first year college team (one season more focus on speed, another season on agility)".

I think at its best, GLB is a sandbox, and if the Roos want to hang around in the rookie leagues, it just makes for a more challenging rookie season.

Likely fun to swap BTs for SPs all season long, too
