The Conference Finals have come and gone, and all across Dotlandia, dots everywhere are excited for the big game – a game analysts have described as “the most anticipated rookie dotball championship since the Great Dotpocalypse of ’99”. Rookie Rose League Commissioner, Pete Rose, had this to say: “I’m not a betting man, but if I were, (which I’m not), I’d wager this game will be the highest-grossing rookie title match of all time, with lots of money changing hands. Not that I’d know anything about that.”
Traffic around the Big Easy was snarled by an influx of tourists. Maintenance crews were working round-the-clock to add temporary seating to the Kangaroo Dome after tickets to the game sold out within 0.5 seconds of going on sale. (Ticketmaster insists this is completely normal.) GLB President and CEO Bort, however, nerfed the additional seats, claiming there could be “no unfair advantage” in the contest, and the maintenance dots had to scramble to remove the hastily-added bleachers.
Meanwhile, festivities across New Orleans continued throughout the week, including a star-studded ‘Dotapalooza’ music festival featuring such widely-acclaimed acts as Slipdot, Run DotMC, ZZ Dot, Justin Timberdot, and megastar, Dottie Swift. Rumors continue to swirl regarding Dottie’s alleged romance with Bawlers tight-end Andrew Palacios, with many anticipating that Dot-Dot herself may confirm the rumors when she performs live during the Rose Bowl Halftime Show.
Suffice to say, Dotlandia is in a festive mood as the big game approaches.
The Golden Kangaroos have not lost a game all season. Boasting a perfect 18-0 record in season 108, the ‘Roos have been led by all-star pivot Drew Brees who finished the regular season with 5,663 passing yards and 81 touchdowns, second only to Mayans QB1. The Bawlers are no slouches on defense however, having finished the season 3rd overall in passing yards allowed with just 2,972 yards surrendered.
On the ground, the Kangaroos are equally potent, finishing the season 4th overall in net rushing yards with 2,694. Over half of this yardage was inflicted by the ‘Roos rushing QB sensation, Taysom Hill, who ran the ball 179 times during the regular season for an eye-popping 1,831 yards and 40 touchdowns. Can the Bawlers defense contain Hill? The numbers suggest they may have a chance. Brasilia’s defensive squad finished the season 3rd overall against the run, surrendering just 1,079 yards all season.
As impressive as that sounds however, honors for run defense go to New Orleans. No team has been able to crack their run stopping scheme, with the Kangaroos surrendering just 338 yards on the ground all season.

The Kangaroo Dome was clad in banners of green-and-gold as fans of both the Bawlers and the Golden Kangaroos filed in to witness what many have billed as ‘the most important Rose Bowl of the post-Dotpocalyse era’. The Kangaroos were a game away from achieving the rarest-of-all-rare feats: Not just a perfect season, but a second consecutive perfect season.
Meanwhile, the visiting Bawlers from Brasilia were riding high on a wave of confidence all their own, having upset the PVAC Gofers in the Conference Final the previous week to claim top honors in the Beta division. Brasilia was one of the few teams to give New Orleans a scare in the regular season, coming within a touchdown of victory in their week 8 matchup when they lost by a score of 24-17. The team entered the championship game set on pushing themselves over the top.
The crowd roared as ‘Roo kicker The Great Dane booted the ball into play. The long-awaited 108th Rose Bowl was underway!
The Bawlers began the game with a series of outside pitches to star running back William Gizmo. The Brasilia fans held their collective breath – could the upset be possible?

The Kangaroos dominated on both sides of the ball, putting up 468 net yards throughout the game while surrendering just 160 yards to a stubborn Brasilia offense. New Orleans kept Bawlers quarterback Toddyn the 3rd scrambling all afternoon, sacking the Brasilia pivot no fewer than 8 times. In the end, the Kangaroo juggernaut could not be stopped, and the 'Roos completed their second consecutive perfect season with a decisive victory over the Bawlers, final score: 58-7.
In the end, the 108th Rose Bowl lived up to its billing: a wild celebration of rookie dotball, capping off what was for all, a hugely entertaining season.
