I admit it.

After the final results have come in. Even I, the biggest proponent of the "boost early and often" method, have seen the light.

The difference between "sucking on purpose until plateau" and 'boosting for fun" is in

Drum roll please...

+2%

As in, if you wait to boost your dots can be up to 2% better. As in, if you're building a 1420 PV dot, you could be building a 1450 PV dot.

===

For the 95% of the GLB community that is struggling to build a 1400 PV dot, this is not something you have to worry about.

Get good first, before you worry worry about skipping boosts.

Getting from a 1200 PV dot to a 1300 PV dot is an 8% improvement. Getting from a 1300 PV dot to a 1350 PV dot is a 4% improvement. Getting from 1350 to 1390 is a 3% improvement. When you finally break that 1400 PV barrier, then it might be time to worry about skipping boosts.

So your saying that sucking the first 4 seasons and not boosting gives you a +2% increase in the build for the next 7 seasons of the life of the dot.
If the whole team does that they will have 4 seasons of sucking and 7 seasons of beating up on the other teams that boosted for fun the first 4 seasons.

no, it's actually 8. decline will probably be good for at least 1 season if not 5 under the new method.

but plateau is boring AF anyway, unless you're a coordinator. If you're not in the top 5%, you might as well flush and go again.

Ya I was going to throw in the first season of decline but didn't.
I don't coordinate but I do like to see what my dots do in plateau against the top teams still.
To each his own as to what they get out of the game.

I didn't do the % thing but the rest of my numbers concur with you, TJ. When this started (after the crash) I was real sure boosting early and often wasn't the thing. I mean, even before the crash it was considered a 'bad thing' and the only major change was that everything was 2x faster now... not the other stuff about building. TBPH, I had tried slow building before and sucked at it so I thought it was a dead issue and I stuck to the old ways... which still made good dots... just not amazeballs dots. Now that I've had a chance to compare my guys and early and often guys and slow (non-boost) guys, I pretty much got the same info you did.

I can hit 1400 usually... hit it with some builds this new batch but missed it with a few others. So I likely need to go slow (and will be doing so).

I wouldn't say the dot sucks but why is it on a farm team and not on one of the group's main teams?

All TJ is saying is that dots that didn't boost the at creation has a slight advantage on the build in the end.

Also only 2AEQ so Eff level is inflated.

I have only have built 4AEQ FF STOPs and Returners and 3 AEQ Kickers and Punters in about the last 40 seasons. My current 9 plateau STOPs and 3 plateau Returners ARE about 2% better than my pre Dotpocalypse guys while the 3 each K/Ps are about 4% better. These dots were NOT boosted early but waited til end build to "catch up" as were my previous dots. Obviously I don't have the retired dots as evidence to compare in public here of this but I know the PV I'm shooting for and usually achieve upon dot creation.

THAT SAID.....were my dots better than before do to the new slow building system or the new training/capping 160 day growth to plateau versus the old 280 day growth to plateau system or maybe even a combo of both???

It is frankly insane that GLB came to the conclusion the late boosting was optimal like 17 years ago. Yet there for some reason after the crash (and even now) advocating for early boosting.

If you care about plateau at all, boosting early is the GLB equivalent of being a flat-earther...

before the crash, late vs early boosting wasn't just about training but also about 72 vs 68 VA points

now that VA points has been taken out of the equation there isn't anything on the early boosting side
