+1

I'll retire dots early, rather then play on a team full or not with an owner or a team where I won't be happy.

The problem I have seen is when I am building for plateau, and an inexperienced owner is focused on winning in the early years that they pressure you to boost or even shop for AEQ at inopportune times for the build. Sure I can say no, and I do typically in a nice way, but then I have seen it cause friction and drama between me and the owner.

Its just easier to set it and forget it on a bad team so you can focus on not taking shortcuts with your builds. Heck even on my own teams, I have caught myself caring too much, way too early in their builds and i have to talk myself out of doicng something that will negatively affect the long term. Its too easy to say the end result of the earlier shortcut will be minimal, but when you get to the top levels, those minimal amounts make a difference.

Sunder, I definitely get what you're saying. I do try to win with my teams at lower levels, but I try not to do it at the expense of end-build goals. I do think the lower levels matter -- I'm paying for 12 seasons, and I don't intend to ignore the first 7 -- but the Plateau seasons still matter more to me than the early ones.

It is pretty much the same reason they stash players on CPU teams.
A lot less BS from owners.

A CPU team is gonna remember to leave my CB at returner, the OP of this thread would re-order the depth chart 3 times over the course of a season and we'd get to see how often Return Specialist gives a boost on all the INTs I'm not making

I had 14 players out of contract who I would prefer to keep on the same team - found one team advertising that was only a 3rd full, which was ideal as I got 11 of mine in there, and it may help to attract some more onto the team. Why am I going to distribute them widely?
