Like in the case of Van Gogh, it wasn't until well after he killed himself

No. Don't do this. Don't.

Do you ever play poker and the other players keep making stupid bets and calls and keep sucking out on you and getting lucky and you lose? If only you people would start playing smart and losing to him. Then you could truly recognize his genius.

Eh... everything but lose. We call those player's 'Fish' and, yeah, you'll lose a hand now and then but I've never left a table full of fish with less money than I sat down with. Losing isn't the issue. In fact, sometimes you do it on purpose to keep the money flowing and the bets growing.

While I agree with your long-term winning point, I'm calling BS on this. Either you're the luckiest man in poker or you've only played a few nights.

Well, there's 'Fish' and there's fish. It's pretty easy to spot the amateurs that think free On-line poker is the same as table poker for real. But there's also the simi-amateurs or what some call casino regulars that are actually smarter players but haven't figured out how to walk away with their winnings. Way too many players stay WAY too long at the table. I play long enough to double my original stake, put that way, then I can play for as long as I want and never touch my winnings I already pocketed. That way if I do happen to lose out, I don't 'lose' $. All that said, I will admit to a 'loss' one time. It was my first ever WSOP down in Texas. I didn't quite make the line. Learned patience. Did better the second time. Haven't been to a 3rd but sure would love to once I've got both the time and the money again. TBH, I'd need a bit of refreshing at the casino's again as I haven't played in around 5 years now.

Got to thinking about it and you're right. I didn't start out as a good player. took my lumps and honed my skills in the military (Army & Navy) and, yes, I lost at least as much as I won back then. I was separating 'casino table playing for $' for casual playing with friends as well. Casual stakes rarely get above a buck ante. At the casino tables it's usually between 25$ and 500$ ante's depending on the table stakes I'm sitting at and the grub stake I'm bringing.

Yeah, I don't consider myself "pro" level, but I've played many a night (and often well into the mornings) at casinos around the US. Moreso 10 years ago when it was all the rage than I do now. But that's not because I've lost my love for Hold 'Em, moreso just don't have the time and/or energy to grind it out late night on work trips anymore. Used to be fun in my late 20's to early 30s to work during the day, stay up and play poker until 3am, then get back at work at 8am. Not so much in my 40s. Lol. I still like playing in Vegas as there are enough fish there on vacation to grind it out against, but the local casinos here in Phoenix are so overridden with grinders nowadays that it's almost a fool's errand to try.

Btw wasn't commenting to call you out, just teasing. Most good poker players have sharp minds that can remember a hand progression from years earlier, but somehow can't quite seem to remember all their losses along the way. Lol.

Truth...but I'm pretty sure that's not the reason for the silence in this case.

Oh, I remember the bad beats for sure. My reason for not playing is 2 fold. I nearly lost the use of both my arms... been rehabbing for over 10 years now. Also, mom's age hit that time where she needs a constant person around to help her out. Since I was the only child not working at the time, got the job. Just kidding... I'd do it no matter what. Either way, I just don't have the time or money (available for disposal) that I use to. Wouldn't mind getting back into it someday. Just as long as somebody doesn't draw a straight flush over my 4 of a kind to many times.

I played at Wigwam in Scottsdale back in November...there was plenty of fish playing. Most of the time they'd suck out on me. That is why I hardly play at any casinos. I prefer a good private cash game these days.

He will lose today, and then beat Norwalk for his first win sadly.

He will probably win 4 games total, 5 max.
