I try and help new players with advice and/or guides....take them on as GMs so they can watch and learn hopefully.....although I cant say I do it for GLB just dont want to be the last one in the bar if/when they turn the lights off lol.

It is easier to retain a customer than try to recruit a new one - if there was an effort beyond "the game won't close down as long as people are playing" towards facilitating the current user base people would be more apt to recruit others

Treat the current customer well and word of mouth will. Draw users - it is why the game initially grew

I recruited a lot of guys, but after many customer service issues, and militant mods on the forum, nearly 90% said fuck these people, but I keep trying to get them back, and new folks as well! I even recruited people off of craigslist for a while! I mostly recruit off of football forums and fantasy football leagues!

honestly? because losing all the money you spent is just a permaban away.

and the only way to guarantee that you don't get permabanned is to not use the forums, which are basically half the game.

There are endless threads bitching and blaming the game (admins etc..)...what have you done?

Before the whole who are you, shit starts, I have been here before most, and all of us have benefited from other folks' hard work (scripts, build ideas, etc) there are only a few who have made this game playable for all...

What have you done?

The game has been around 7 years. The users have done their part in trying to bring people in. It's up to the game's developers to keep the current users and bring in more users beyond that.

The game has also gone through it's life to some extent. Every game like this is eventually replaced or loses support. The problem is that the replacement sucks.

Lying is gonna get ya in deep wit da man.

As far as what have I done? Gee... I dunno... spent more here than on ANY other on-line game (except On-Line Poker but then, I've made more than I've spent so it wouldn't count if it was counted)... spent more TIME OF MY LIFE here than on any other on-line game... told plenty of friends about it... some were here... all have left for various reasons. And I AM NOT the fucker in charge of ADVERTISING this thing because if I was, I'd fire my sorry ass for being such a serious detriment to everything and everyone here.

I found a game I thought was pretty damn great. Since I was searching for hours for a game just like it ( I don't like management sims that much.) I wanted players, the option to be a manager, and personalize said players. GLB offered this. Others did not.

I made a free player that was trash. I had no idea what I was doing, but Nucleus had a team ( or was part of one) that was thankfully there to help said free player and give it a home. Then I retired the player when a user told me that was the best thing to do.

At this point I buy my first batch of flex.

Then my next, then my next. Then I finally start -actually- reading the forum only to see the vets ( pretty much everyone but me) say the game is dying. Blah blah blah Corndog this, blah blah blah the admins are lazy.

Didn't really care I guess. I bought more flex even after seeing this topic appear even in threads it had no business being in.

I just kept buying flex. Bought some this month, don't know if I will or not next.

I've made players for teams that had needs that more than likely wouldn't be filled at the lower levels at the time. At least for now, until the boosted players that are being farmed in the confusing and sadly reduced D league (bring it back damn you.)

SO I guess my contribution is just that. Buying flex, filling up the spots nobody else fills. I'll probably burn through it now that I have other sims that I bought. I tried recruiting, people stopped logging on. I look at the places I am and unlike in my past days, most of the forums are just dull and dry. Even the bad teams, the casuals were full of topics and posting that kept the forum active. Now it seems like those people just log on all robot like, check training, see if they can the next cap with their dots, then log off.

I agree with others at this point the admins do have to spark a flame of some sort. GLB 2 and Mighty Brawlers were, and I don't mean to offend any one, pretty bad to me.

TLDR version= It'd be nice if they added something new so we can get active all around. I'd love to just see a glimpse of what GLB was in it's prime, whatever that was, I didn't even know this place existed back then. Whether this something is a new formation, giving us free range to make offensive plays ( Why in the hell can't I run a damn End Around or control what WRs I want in on certain plays?!), the instant lvl 79 idea (I'd buy it), or you can give us other dotball games. Just please listen to what people are asking for instead of being that one guy who buys the bama fan a auburn t shirt and calls him ungrateful when he says he's not wearing it.
