not if you allowed people to build dots to the current day for their age group at any level, and made the insta-dots slightly inferior to the long-build dots. Then the insta-dots would be built either as band-aids which could fill suddenly vacated holes at the lower levels (which is sorely needed with the dwindling player pool at every level) or impatient people who want their WL dot NOW!

I know this solution won't completely satisfy the insta-dots crowd, and because of that it probably won't happen. But this is the only way that I see to implement the insta-dots without making it the only option

I would just like someone to try something. Don't like all this end of the world talk. Hate the insta idea however.

Don't even THINK about doing that! There's no point in pretending to cave-in to our desires for insta-dots and then SCREW IT UP to the point that nobody wants them! Either give us a fully developed and non-handicapped insta-dot or deny us that in its entirety, but none of us want to build a crippled version of an insta-dot.

The instant dot thing is not right either.

What there should be is a single NFL league, er, Pro league.

Nothing higher or lower.

However many of them as you need for the season.

Tournament tourney in the post season. Top 64 teams (or 32 if numbers get low).

Dots are all built to level 79 in terms of Skill Points.

They then generate veteran points and additional SA points and Bonus points to work up their AEQ as they play over their 15 season pro career.

Stamina hits from play are increased so that teams MUST use all 55 slots and play all dots (or smaller rosters or both).

What about if the long build were shorter as well? I could live with a slight penalty on insta-dots if the optimal build time were cut in half.

IMO the way to do this would be to eliminate training and ALGs altogether and just dole out skill points over a much shorter time period, maybe the player difference from 72 to 79. This would allow:
1) any player to compete in the pros
2) 3 seasons to add SP & adjust the build, simulating increasing skill in the pro game.
3) increase parity - right now there are some builders who have optimized the build process to the point that even decent builders can't compete (yeah me included ).
4) make it easier for new agents to get into the game, way less complicated to build players.
5) allows for more build experimentation.

Since your player total life would be shorter, hopefully the cost of owning a player would be less as well.

Yeah, I'm long past the denial stage on whether or not I'm addicted

I'm not fighting against the insta-dot idea, though, because I think that might finally be what I need to break the addiction

Ya, if the build process goes away, so do I. Love coordinating at different levels.
