i think brady is a great qb. i think bellichick is a genius coach. but they seem to have a penchant for breaking, not just bending, the rules. and i'm quite sure they cheated here and they should be punished accordingly.

i heard that a sports reporter spoke to numerous ex-nfl starting qb's. the majority of them said the same thing about their 'pre-game warmup routine'. they would meet with the equipment manager and test out the balls and tell them if they like their feel. the eq mgr would adjust as necessary. each one of them said they found it difficult to believe the brady would not have felt the difference before the game, but nearly impossible to believe he would not have felt that difference DURING the game.

there's been a ton of science and analysis conducted on ball pressure in the past few days and it really takes only a second or two to let 2 psi out of a ball with a needle.

for those that keep honing in on the indy game, it's like i said in my post a few pages ago, i'm more concerned with how often this was done, because i doubt that the last game was the first and only time they ever did it. there were many other close games during the season.

and if rodgers is found to have cheated too, then they should punish him appropriately. and for the record, i like rodgers as a qb.

The more this evolves the more it looks like a NASCAR show. NASCAR has always had 'rule benders'... never anything OMG horrible but just past the line of the law so that minimal punishment seems to be the norm in most cases. I'm willing to bet that there's several QB's that push the 'limit' when it comes to the letter of the law when it comes to the PSI number of the footballs. If NASCAR has gauges that can accurately show the air pressure of a tire to 1/10th of a degree, then I suspect the NFL can cut it just as close within the 'parameters' described by the rules... and that some guys are gonna push that more than allowed thinking nobody is gonna know. It's either that or a faulty air pressure gauge that caused this issue and I just don't think that's gonna end up being the answer to this. Is it cheating? By rule, yes. Is it horrible cheating? No... not really. But still it seems to be a culture that needs addressing badly.

Painfully awkward reporter trying to be clever by bringing up spygate probably out of a job right now

The pats are always on top of everything. They cheated and they all know about it. Equipment guys would get killed if the balls weren't perfect.

Lazy refs gave the balls a quick "feel" check indoors and they were probably 11-12 psi. Add the drop of another psi from the cold once they went out.

More likely than A) a ball boy stabbing them with a pin like a B-movie slasher flick in the *10 minutes* between the refs giving them back and kickoff, or B) someone tampering with them ON the sidelines.

All conjecture until something definite comes out, but I wouldn't be surprised if Walt Anderson's crew didn't test them with gauges, considering the number of EQ managers who've come out and said they *rarely* do that, just inspect the laces and give them a squeeze to see if they "feel right".

NFL said they tested the balls before the game and all the balls were ok

After being suspicious they tested the balls at halftime and NE Ball were down 2 PSI.. Colts Balls alright
So they corrected the balls and put them back at 12,5 PSI..
Tested after the game... all balls were ok

Why NE Balls only deflated during the first half ? Thats why there's an investigation

maybe after the 3rd quarter they realized they play better with fully inflated balls

and did they check PSI? weigh them? either is supposedly acceptable

officials have a device to check the pressure so thats what they do 2:15 before kickoff, put them in a locked bag .... and then give the balls to the ballboys 15 mins before the game. Thats the protocol. In that case they had to retest at halftime because they thought NEs balls were deflated.

And they tested again at the end of the game

Nothing been released yet aside from "reports". But it sounds like the Pats submitted the balls to the refs and they didn't check thoroughly and allowed them to be used. If the Pats did that then it is on the refs to have noticed. If this is the case the the league should punish the refs but they never hold the refs accountable so that's unlikely.

I also read another report about the league struggling to find evidence that this was an intentional action by the Pats.

if they are found guilty then I'm not sure they should be punished based solely on the fact that the Vikings and Panthers were caught affecting balls and nothing happened. And Aaron Rodgers was quoted as saying he over inflates and nothing happened. Now we hear the D. Jackson had no clue their was something off about them. It looks more like a story that the media got a hold of and rode with before the Super Bowl.

Whatever the future of the Deflatriots is, the NFL will handle it.

Don't expect anything to be handed down, until after the Super Bowl....

Colts are such pussies...Pats made Manning's life miserable so Dungy, Isray and Polian whine to have defensive rules changed and now we have vagina Pagano whining about the the amount of air in a football because he knows he can't win. What a soft organization...Maybe they could compete if they didn't make stupid trades for RB's who stink. If I was a Colts player, I would be embarrassed, take the loss like men.
