Couldn't help but notice that Florida is the only school in the top 9 for both the 90s and 00s. (#4 and #6, respectively.)

'Ol Ball Coach literally built UF into the perennial power they are today. He now has USC approaching a similar stratosphere, though they still have a couple more peaks to climb. Heck, he won an ACC title at Duke. He is one of the greatest CFB coaches ever

Story time; I play HS football in MA; I was at a 4 day football camp not 7 days ago and there was one kid who really stood out.. He had no pads on but he was still fast. Way faster than everybody else. He was also strong enough to take/give a hit and his technique was almost perfect (He's a CB)
He later won an award for being one of the top players that day (I had already won the award twice so, nothing too special )
But to the point.. He was one of the best guys at camp, he stood out to all the players and coaches; he was raised and played football in Texas.
My respect for those guys was instantly raised

Point: I don't really know if Texas or Florida football is better but They're definatly both better than MA football.

I would vote for Texas though; Imagine a "Texans vs. Dolphins" Game

True.

For HS hotbed, I'm thinking Texas cuz football is religion there and they have so many people. Florida has the best athletes and Cali has so many people that they're right up there. Cali plays a lot of other sports though so that shrinks their pool.

Then you have to look at Georgia, Ohio, and Louisiana as the next group in no certain order

I hate Texas as much as the next guy, but I will go to bat for them here. I guess I don't know what kind of data you are composing to come up with such a bold claim, but I feel pretty confident in saying that the top HS players from both the states of California and Florida combined may be able to compete with the entire state of Texas HS football. Texas HS football is pretty top notch.

I recognized 95% of the Florida players and less than 50% of the Texas ones...just saying.

Story time:

I am going to date myself, BUT, my high school football team won the USA Today 5A National Championships in 1988. Pine Forest High in Pensacola Florida...2 years after Emmit Smith left our arch rival school of Escambia High. Granted Emmit had left, but we beat Escambia 98-14 in FOOTBALL that year enroute to a 14-0 season.

You are from Florida and recognize more Florida players on the list. I wonder if there could be a reason for this

Could be that the Texas team barely has anyone who played in the NFL in the last 20 years. Pretty much the opposite on the Florida team.

Larry Brown OT on the Florida team was the only one I don't recognize.

BTW, every Texas player had a huge NFL career with the exception of Ken Hall. Hall held, maybe still, the all-time record for yards gained on the ground in USA HS history.

Kind of funny that Richmond Webb from the Texas team, went on to be an All Pro OT for the Dolphins, while Michael Irvin, Nate Newton, and Emmitt went on to fame in Dallas. Deion had some success there too. haha

Overall, the Texas team had more NFL impact than Florida. However, Texas has a lot more players and a lot more years to choose from as well. I would be surprised if they weren't the top two states for something like this.

That poll was dumb to begin with. How Georgia was 4th and I can't even foresee them being in the top 16. Not surprising since E$PN is still run by the dummy wasteland created by Mark Shapiro.
