1) -100 to +100 distance slider for kick off distance, ranging between the opposing 30yrd line and the end of the EZ to protect against 'on-side' kicks.

2) -100 to +100 directional slider for kick off left/right. This would allow special teams to try and stack one side of the field to try and limit exceptional returners or pin the KR team deep.

EDIT: An excellent suggestion was made that if the the slider is used and the K boots the KO out of bounds, the receiving team starts at the 40yrd line to mirror NFL rules. This would allow some resistance and consequences against consistent coffin corner KOs.

While this idea has it's merits, there has to be options for the return team to set up against it as well. I would rather see all of it as part of an overall revamping of ST's as opposed to a piece meal add on.

+1 to this.

i think ST would be paid attention to more if htere were more options and it was a bigger part of the game. While this idea is cool, it would need to be implemented with the proper tools for A) the kick off team to compensate for kicker directional aims and B) the return team would need to have a tactical setting that lets them be balanced or return right/left/middle.

couple this suggestion with proper STOP SA trees, and special teams could actually be a place for excitement for everybody aside from the agent of the returner. It would also make STC's earn their money by scouting opposing ST units to gameplan/compensate for teams that kick only to one side and stack that side with FF gunners.

This would just lead to every kickoff being to one side with the gunners stacked on that side causing more FF TD's. Just an option i don't think we need.

I respectively disagree with that comment

It is something that we need and maybe an added tactic for Returners where they have a slider as well where they can go for ball security over trying to make Big gains.

So if you could kick to one side, you wouldn't stack your gunners that side?

why would you want to stack them all on one side? You would just create break out td's for the returners if they block one side.

Well you'd have blockers on the other side obviously but you'd put your fumble forcing guys on the side that you're kicking to.

If gunners were stacked on one side, it would be a high risk / high reward scenario because if the returner broke loose and gained access to open field to the other side, it could be a huge gain or even a TD.

What if there was a chance for the ball to go out of bounds and the return team getting the ball at the 40?

I like the idea of being able to control direction and distance of the kickoff.

Without distance control its hard for a K to be good at long FGs and avoid touchbacks to keep kickoffs in play for good FF kickoff units to try and do their thing.

As long as it doesn't become some kind of coffin corner punt thing, +1
