The wildcards will go to championship game runner's up by record. I think Hartford would be something like 5th in line...so it's not very likely to happen.

umm actually its not that unlikely, I'll have to do a more specific look at it... but theres quite a few gold teams dropping out.

I think deserter is more apt.

Don't worry DTD, it is unlikely to happen. Teams that lose the championship game and still make it to Gold have always had 16-0 regular season records. And there are several of these around but even if it happens, then I will just wish Hartford good luck in Gold.

You can't control which conference you are in or who your competition is and Hartford did all they could do with things they can control. That's all you can ask for in your team and the rest is up to the someone else to decide.

yah but usually not that many gold teams drop out, i think there are actually 4 (even might be 5 COULD be 6?) gold teams dropping out, assuming they honor requested demotions, and this would be a heck of a chance for hartford to be considered, as the tiebreaker after record is PA, and I think hartfords defense performed well pretty much all season, except the championship.
