4% is way too big of a bonus. IMO it should work up to 1-2 yards beyond the line of scrimmage and give only a 2-3% bonus. This silliness of having a 60% bonus behind the line from one VA is what's making defenses hold back and not try to tackle guys until they get 1 yard past the line of scrimmage.
The whole VA is ill-conceived, IMO. Bort has said the idea of it was for players to be good at bracing themselves right after a handoff. But as far as we know there is no penalty to ball-handling right after the handoff, so why is this needed? Instead it just makes power backs nearly invincible behind the line of scrimmage. And the bonus to fakes outside is not true to the vision of the VA at all.
