Wish I would've had more carries, but I got over 100 broken tackles while somewhat neglecting agility. Strength is mid-30s currently, with speed 50+. I got by over the first half of the season with sub-25 speed. Strength is the most obvious factor, but I believe carrying has a lot to do with it as well.

The way power backs run, there's really only one cut they'll make right as they hit their hole, then it's head-on into all would-be tacklers. For this one cut alone I'd like to have my agility in the high 30s. I can't tell you how many times I saw my guy make that first cut out of the hole and have to re-accelerate. Missed opportunities.

But as far as how much strength is enough, I like to use Linebackers as my litmus. I'm not concerned with trying to break DT and DE tackles per se. If I can break that LB, that means I'm into the second level most likely, and that means the DBs behind him don't stand a chance. There's way too many LBs out there with sub-30 strength, and I take full advantage of that. I know I'm gonna have to bring it up this season into the 40's, but I'll be moving right along with most of the LBs.

I have noticed that when I get a good bit of field in front of me, the speed really helps. Your guy will punish DBs in these scenarios, but can occasionally get popped by a strong SS.

So yeah, that's my story so far. Next season will be a better test as I'm (hopefully) receiving more carries. But I'll do whatever keeps us winning.

My Strength is over 60 and my Carrying is in the low 20's. In Season 2 I broke 127 tackles.

Most of his big 50+ yard plays he broke 3-5 tackles to get to the endzone. He could break a tackle from a DT/NT and keep on going.

a huge factor is going to be the defense you're playing against as well -

to use a slightly different position as an example - i had a DE who played in canada AAA (established league) and did squat.

he got traded to USA - A #8 and knocked out something like 16 sacks in 7 games..

so; since you can see only 1 side of the equation (the HB) it is difficult to piece it together without seeing the stats of the Defensive guy who missed the tackle - or knowing what his individual tactics were - wrap up / balanced / force fumbles

so 40 strength? how much into carrying? I imagine running through guys means a fumble risk

with better defense, that strength isn't going to be enough
if you look at laggo's, his has 60 str but not as many broken tackles

i have a question though
we all know that the first tackle breaking ability is passive (that is it gives a small bonus)
however do the other two (stiff arm and power through) give a passive bonus to breaking tackles with the addition of having a chance to increase that bonus on a play?

Stiff arm seems more like a avoiding move according to it's definition kind of push off for more yards, as for power through it gives you a bonus to breaking tackles exactly like lower shoulder but adds the ability on any play for it to activate and break multiple tackles with a huge bonus

I also know that defense had to do with my backs stats but he wasn't in a shit league, as for the carrying question strength helps you not fumble so you can have like 20-25 carrying but you also need confidence around 20 because that helps you not get demoralized by linebackers and not fumble as much

Wait, what? More slowly this time, what is the difference between Lower Shoulder and Power Thru?

they are the same thing but power through adds a ability that will activate every now and then which allows you to break lots of tackles like 3-5 in one play

Power Through is like the better version of Lower Shoulder, but it's assumed that they're active abilities that'll "activate", so while Power Through is the better version... Lower Shoulder is still effective, and can activate seperately... giving you more opportunities for one of the abilities to activate, causing you to break tackles.

As far as skill descs. go

Lower shoulder is constant bonus to break tackle formula.

Power thru actives sometimes, and when it does is extra bonus to break tackle formula - probably greater than lower shoulder.
