Bringing this thread back up to see how I'm doing.
In the West, I had this prediction:
Mud Dogz 15-1
Phoenix Duckz 14-2
Wezt Virginia Mountain MENz - 11-5
Hamilton Tiger-Catz - 10-6
Wagnerz Meatz - 10-6
Bridgeport Money Makerz - 8-8.
Currently, the playoff standings look like this:
Mud Dogs 12-0
Tiger-Cats 12-0
Mountain MEN 9-3
Pitbulls 9-3
Ducks 9-3
Money Makers 8-4
Wolverines 8-4
Meat 8-4
The Mud Dogs have done what they were supposed to do this season. They have 4 games left against playoff competition, so they may end up with a loss on their record, but look for them to still come away with the #1 seed in the playoffs.
Tiger-Cats have been the surprise of the season so far (in my eyes anyway) They've always been a tough team, but they are hitting on all cylinders this year and are starting to put together some impressive wins. This week's contest against the Mountain MEN may have sewn up the #2 spot in the playoffs for the Tiger-Cats. They can't rest on their laurels though, 3 of their last 4 games come against playoff competition.
The addition of Eric M Vos has been a big boost to the Mountain MEN. They've always been a tough team but have relied more on their defense in the past. With a high level running back to grind out the yards, their offense is now rolling right along as well. Of the top 4 teams, the MEN have the easiest road to the playoffs - look for them to finish out 13-3 and grab the 3rd playoff seed.
Pitbulls were unranked at the beginning of the season but have put together an impressive run this year. Their last game of any significance will be in Week 16 against the non-boosting Meat. Look for the Pitbulls to end the season 13-3 and the fourth playoff spot. Their week 5 loss to the MEN will keep them from getting more than 1 playoff game this season.
In the East, I had this prediction:
Booze Hogs 15-1
Destroyers 15-1
Corporation 14-2
Brass Monkeys 12-4
Buckwheat Defenders 12-4
Non-Retarded Razorbacks 11-5
Peddlers 10-6
Renegades 9-7
Retarded Razorbacks 8-8
So far the standings look like this:
Titans 12-0
Destroyers 11-1
Renegades 11-1
Peddlers 9-3
Agency 9-3
Brass Monkeys 8-4
Corporation 6-6
Karry Halas 6-6
No matter what I call the Titans, they are still ass kickers. Their regular season is over and they can cruise into the playoffs undefeated for the second straight year.
The Destroyers are likewise on track to finish exactly as I predicted, but they have more of a gauntlet to run in the last 4 weeks. Games against three playoff teams will keep these guys on their toes. While the Destroyers should be favored in their remaining games, it is not unthinkable that someone jumps up and takes a bite at them.
Renegades have outperformed my predictions. Tough to gauge new talent coming in each year and I think I allowed their name change from the Bedroom Dominators (one of my favorite team names) to cloud my judgment a bit. Renegades have one meaningful game left against the Destroyers in week 15, but should not overlook the Warlords in week 13.
Peddlers look pretty good this year but have three potential losses left in them before the playoffs. Their biggest game remaining will be in week 13 against the Destroyers but either Harry Kalas or the Brass Monkeys have an upset left in them in season 10.
underperformers
The Knights. Holy crap - these guys took a pretty decent team and turned it into shit with an experiment that went horribly (and predictably) awry. Now they're CPU. bah.
The Razorbacks - just because you aren't boosting doesn't mean you shouldn't at least game plan. Hope you put a better product on the field in season 11.
The Blades - these guys just can't catch a break. Should be doing better than they are, but the pieces just aren't falling into place.
overperformers
Tiger-Cats - excellent team this year guys
Pitbulls - slightly behind the Renegades as the newcomer of the year
Renegades - top tier team in their first season. Let's see you do it again in season 11.
