6 pro bowlers for a team that's 6th in its division? Not likely.

I'm sorry.... do you think the word "nominate" means something different?

nom·i·nate /v. ˈnɒməˌneɪt; adj. ˈnɒmənɪt/

–verb (used with object) 1. to propose (someone) for appointment or election to an office.
2. to appoint to a duty or office.
3. to propose for an honor, award, or the like.

If I didn't recognize my team, no one else would. Now stop being a troll.

When you nominate someone, that means that you think they belong in the Pro Bowl. Therefore, by nominating 6 guys on your squad, you're saying that you think that you should have 6 pro bowlers, which is what I was questioning.

Well, that's kind of the point. There's a reason why nobody else will recognize your team- you just don't have 6 pro-bowl caliber players. As a matter of fact, *nobody* has 6 pro bowlers, including the 5 teams that are ahead of you in the standings (not to even mention the top-level Alpha teams). Hell, my team is 14-1 and even I think we have 2, maybe 3 Pro Bowlers.

Sorry for a slight derailment in the thread (Emerald City's official nominations will be posted shortly after tomorrow's final regular season games), but I'd like to disagree with Brady's point about no team having six pro-bowl caliber players. Obviously, I'm going to seem biased here as the owner of the Flying Monkeys, but stats alone would seem to suggest the following players on our roster should at least be considered to represent their positions on the All-Pro team:

WR Marshall Rapid (5th in receptions, tied for 1st in yards, 1st in TDs)
C Xander Johnson (3rd in pancakes - 2nd amongst Cs)
G Fatty McDonald (4th in pancakes - 2nd amongst Gs)
OT Abe Worthington (7th in pancakes - 1st amongst OTs)
G Franklin Davis (11th in pancakes - 4th amongst Gs) <-- long shot
DE Rodney Mitchell (25th in tackles, 1st in hurries, 1st in sacks, 11 PD, 3 Int)
LB Jack Carpenter (5th in tackles, tied for 2nd in FFs, tied for 5th in FRs, 2 Int)
CB Kunner Man (tied for 5th in Ints, 1st with 2 Int for TDs) <-- long shot, but great numbers for the 4th CB on the depth chart
PR Ivan Powers (tied for 1st with 5 PR TDs)

So there's nine players (seven if you exclude the two listed as long shots who would need big final games to probably have a chance at landing a nomination) from Emerald City. I'd like to think Rapid, Johnson, McDonald, Worthington, and Mitchell are near locks to make the team with the performances they've had through the first 15 games; and Carpenter and Powers should definitely receive consideration at their positions. That's five "locks", two "maybes", and two "longshots" by my count (which is probably biased by my association with the team, but I'm trying to let the stats speak for themselves).

Anyway, my point is that the idea that "As a matter of fact, *nobody* has 6 pro bowlers" may not actually be true as we would appear to have a decent shot of doing just that...

I'm trying to find a way to phrase this so I don't sound like a jerk, so please don't take it the wrong way (and to be clear, I think you have an excellent team), but if you had four all-pro offensive linemen, your team probably would have rushed for over 45 yards on us. If anything, your defensive line is the one that's stacked. Rodney Mitchell definitely belongs, but you shut down our running game in a way that nobody else really has.

I think a lot of people would say that they think their team has 6-10 pro bowlers, but realistically it's just not true. It's bias, which is fine, but the teams in this league are too competitive for anyone to legitimately claim that they have 6 guys who are the absolute best at their positions (how many players are being elected, anyways? If the depth chart goes 3 deep at every position, then it might be possible).

Maybe my perspective is just off, because I'm drinking the Burning Pride kool-aid, and we were just joking earlier today about how much like the Patriots our team has wound up. AKA, we win a lot, but with only a couple stars and a bunch of distinguished role players. Maroney and Barkley are definite Pro Bowlers, but our other stalwarts aren't necessarily even reflected in stats. So, given that, maybe you're both right.

LOL, of course people are going to vote or nominate their own team, probably too late but this thread would be a lot more productive if teams only voted for players on other teams.

I don't pay enough attention to other teams to give enough of a shit to nominate anyone from them.

It also doesn't bother me if a team wants to nominate 3/4 of their roster.

When they start giving extra XP to the players nominated to a fake MVP vote, then maybe I will change my mind.

Fair enough, my bad.

My nominations (if they count. I'm a GM, but not an owner):

I should note, too, that I don't really know much about the Zeta teams, so mine might be a little Alpha-heavy, but I'll try to balance out as best as I can.

QB: Risto Marley, Brisbane Gods. Paka Palofitas, Tongan Crimson Auha
RB: Sammie Maroney, New England Burning Pride. Dirty Mo Posse, Newcastle Bearcats
FB: JJ Paulin, New England Burning Pride
WR: Marshall Rapid, Emerald City Flying Monkeys. Joaquin Schweinsteiger, Carabao Buffalos
OT: Abe Worthington, Emerald City Flying Monkeys.
OG: Eugene Chung, New England Burning Pride
C: Kwame Brown, Rawle Tech Titans

(Honestly, I just haven't paid enough attention to the OLs to have any business going more than one deep on any of them).

DE: Rodney Mitchell, Emerald City Flying Monkeys, Drax Akorin, Canberra Strike
DT: Thockmorton P. Gildersleeve, Fiji Sea Turtles (his stats might not back it up, but this guy is a beast, and anchored a run defense that gave us fits). Bug Eater, Nauru Tiger Sharks
OLB: Sean Spence, the U Canes. Panama Creel, Perth Scorpions
MLB: Ben RichardSON, Carabao Buffalos
SS: Boyo Smashface, Las Vegas Outlaws
CB: Vernon Barkley, New England Burning Pride. Lockdown Jones, The U Canes

The G.B.R. Sharks will not be nominating anyone from our team, as we have only actually been together for a very few games.

We would like to recognize the following players from around the league with our ten available nominations, however.

QB Johnny Cash Vincennes
HB Dirty Mo Posse Newcastle
WR Marshall Rapid Emerald City
KR Gregori "Racehorse" Rasputin Tongan
PR Tyler Grahm Las Vegas
LB Panama Creel Perth
DE Henry Brown Brisbane (non-cheaters)
CB Alex Wondertramp Brisbane (non-cheaters)
CB Vernon Barkley New England
C Kwame Brown Rawle

Emerald City's Nominations

C Xander Johnson (Emerald City)
T Abe Worthington (Emerald City)
FB/PR Ivan Powers (Emerald City) <-- 7 PR TDs!!!

LB Jack Carpenter (Emerald City)
NT Magnus Magnusson (Emerald City) <-- Stats aren't that impressive, but without him our defense would be no where near as stout against the run and DE Rodney Mitchell would have faced far more double teams

DT Drifter Nomellini (Brisbane Bandits)
LB Brian Pait (Big Island Growas)
FS Mack Slade (The U Canes)
SS Herman Harper (The U Canes)

P.S. Thank you to the teams that nominated WR Marshall Rapid, G Fatty McDonald, and DE Rodney Mitchell. It certainly made my job easier .

I have to say thanks for nominating Horus Luna at DE Incinerators. Unfortunately he absolutely crapped the bad for about the last 5 games of the season.

No problem, although he wasn't necessarily my first choice (I followed drifter's instructions and my top pick was already listed). Horus was borderline 2-3 pick as the second place guys were both pretty even IMO, but behind the leader.
