This was one of the new updates for this seasons sim. I like don't get me wrong. My question is. Can the d-line do the same?
Does it work both ways? I see time and time again the D-linemen get the jump off the snap. But when they get to the outside shoulder(I know its a Dot he doesn't have shoulders) it seems the OT can just bump them once then get back in front of them. Shouldn't the D-linemen in that situation be able to turn the O-linemen into the QB?

I hope that makes sense.

Oh God yes....the effectiveness of a block thrown while backpedalling is just about nil, and will sometimes even be a reverse pancake.
Nice work, this should be implemented - there really needs to be a penalty/bonus for when a lineman engages his opponent before he is set up - this would achieve that in part.
It should work both ways, and on both run and pass.

Is this stuff supposed to be this season or next. Did we ever get confimation how mid-season fixes are going to be handled? Not sure if I ever heard the outcome of the poll.

With 1 preseason game to go, this is an excellent question, I would like to know the answer myself.

I don't understand how it wouldn't be this season. This is a problem that was identified by a tester four days ago (though by the community much longer ago than that) and there are still a couple of days left in the preseason. Even if Bort isn't going to make changes after week 8, that's a total of 22 days to fix a problem.

Yeah, there really isn't much of an excuse for this not to be fixed this season, especially since it's been identified so early on in the preseason.

Honestly, this is really a season to prove the mettle of the game and ignoring this major issue for the entire season would be a major blow to a lot of people's already struggling view of this game.

What its showing its that the DE isn't broken its showing that all is equal. Thinking that two player equally balanced should result in the defender getting near the QB more often is invalid and false thinking.

Your wanting to have this game be similar to the actual NFL and it is at times. Put an OT and a DE who are basically equal against each other and most of the time you'll have a true statemate. Stop yelling for one side or the other to get jacked up or nerfed.

Wrong..

For the same reason I can have my CBs cover a WR tight as shit, and still give up a completion even when he is double covered, you are wrong..

For the same reason I can throw 4 and 5 people at the point of attack, and watch a HB skate through the pile of people basically untouched.. You are wrong

If my defenders can screw up every other third down play, then so can the offensive linemen.

Leaving aside that I think your wrong on the merits of your argument, you're also wrong on the facts, as this thread shows that a much better DE still loses out to a worse OT, just read Hazy's posts on this thread about his testing.

I don't know why people even come here and try to make excuses on how it works when even Bort admits it's not working right and hazy proved it is broken.

All that said it would mean that a well built DE should still have problems with a well built OT.

Which is how it WAS in S6 when OTs were whining constantly. My 2 LTs allowed 2 sacks combined that season. I have no problem with that, what I have a problem with is average OTs shutting down elite DEs and CPU OTs shutting down very good DEs.

Archer, I completely agree with that.

thank you very much for providing the undeniable proof that DE are pretty broken

I for one HATE what Bort has done to DE's. When the Speed DE were tearing up our OT's it was a challenge that we took on. We spent 2 seasons building our OT's up to stop the DEs and as soon as we were holding our own against them, they got NERFED!!!!

Since that time it has been boring as hell to be an OT because the DE do pretty much nothing at this point.

OK this thread is turning into nothing but a whine fest.

I'll open it back up once the changes from the test server have been brought to the live server.
