Because of a large thread concerned with pass rush effectiveness, primarily the DE vs OT matchups, I decided to run some tests to see if there was a legitimate problem. To start out with, I ran a series of test sims with the OT's and the DE's having identical builds. Their builds were as follows:
Strength 70
Speed 70
Agility 70
Jumping 40
Stamina 40
Vision 40
Confidence 40
Blocking 70
+pass block
No SA's/VA's assigned

No SA's/VA's assignedthat kills the experiment right there. Do a real test with realistic builds. SAs and VAs are a part of the game. Tunnel Vision is a huge part of a pass rush DE build. Not sure how many OTs out there have a Speed of 70 either....
Another part of the equation is how much have the total sacks per team changed? It used to be impossible for LBs to get sacks, DTs weren't exactly sack-tacular either.
Lastly, in the direction of realism, NFL sack leaders are usually in the teens, as in just a shade over 1 sack per game on average. Similarly, most QBs only get sacked maybe twice a game (or less) on average.
