yeah, i made a suggestion for that too and i know of a few others. I'm talkin about all of them, cause i think the D play creator will be lacking something that it absolutely should have if this isnt implemented.

I totally agree with you, it would lack stuff, like fun and invention/tactics. Too much of GLB is about builds and EQT and VAs. But one can only hope that Bort implements this total freedom for both Offensive and Defensive playmakers.

The D-Creator should allow D-line to cover in man to man instead of just zones.

I'd be fine with maybe playing m2m on the TE, or HB/FB...

Aren't most of the players that do it actually just LB's, lined up on the LoS?

I would think so. We played a 5-2 in school and I was a DE. I often covered the TE in Man to Man. but a 5-2 really is just a 3-4 with the OLB on the LOS. In any case, every D-lineman can play zone coverage, so why not let them cover man to man.

Has Bort said anything about this going live in season 8?

From what I gather, yes he has said it will be live for season 8. We're just not there yet. Still day 45 of season 7.

Cool. Would be nice to see something in print.

It's actually on the changelog in long-term projects. Says it will go live start season 8. Bort also mentioned it in a thread somewhere.

As far as stunts and what-not, why can't you just use a base formation (like a 4-3) with the MLB 5 yards back and then, to stunt, create the exact same play with the MLB on the line... Same thing with offensive guys griping about "motion" on offense. The play starts when the ball is snapped, so why can't you just pretend your TE started on the left side and motioned to the right? Seems like more important issues are out there to be addressed.

Gap assignments, imo, are the A #1 most important thing that need to be included. If you give us gap assignments then defensive plays could be created where we can shut down certain rush plays with different alignments. Right now if a team runs 100% Strong I Off Tackle we can kind of plug the gap by blitzing certain guys, but it would be great if we could slant our linemen to take that lane away.

Add gap assignments (or even just little drag-bars that determine pathing... drag the arrow in the direction you want your guy to go) and then go live so I can start copying my playbook.

This is something that has bothered me about the current 4-3 Base defensive alignment. In a 4-3 the position NT should be in the B gap or between the right OG and OT because it's the strong side and the DT position should be between the left OG and Center. We should also be able to move both DTs from the A gap to the B gap on both sides and the DEs from the C gap to the D gap. I know the D creator isn't ready but that's something to add.

I love this idea and I'm happy to see that it's on the test server being used. There appears to one major piece missing: SS.

Having the ability to select which SS to be in on a certain play out weighs every other option that would be given to us.

I suggest that Bort add SS to the custom D depth chart. That's all, doubt this will be seen and doubt it's important to anyone else.` Thanks for reading.

Since I was redirected from this thread: http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=2336963

My suggestion is to take out the Custom slots from the Depth Chart page, and make 3 tabs. Tab 1 = Depth Chart, Tab 2 = Special Depth Chart 1, Tab 3 = Special Depth Chart 2. Each would look EXACTLY the same as the depth charts before we introduced HB1/2, FB1/2, and TE1/2.

This would solve all team's desires for custom depth charts, and also would solve special teams' depth charts. You could have one be fore kickoffs, one be for punts, and one be for onsides kicks!

Got one.

Along with the Save function, add a "Save As". This way, if we're creating unique formations (say 46, 5-2, 3-5 etc.) then we can go into one of our plays, make the necessary tweaks using that same formation, then save the new play without overwriting the old one. Either that, or let us save positional presets for a formation that we can select along with the basic 4-3's and 3-4's provided.

I think that's giving TOO much diversity to a defense. How often do you see the SS being subbed on a defense? Personally, I don't see it very often. John Lynch was a hard hitting SS, but was still out there on passing downs.

The LBs make sense, the DL makes sense, but DBs do not. Of course, I'm open to reasoning as to WHY the SS should be there. Don't just say "rushing and passing downs"...
