Like many others here, I would think (in general) a SS build would be a better match for a MLB (or LOLB) than a FS build would be. In general, at least, since I think it is more common to see SS's with a higher strength and points in the Hard Hitting tree, which would be the closest parallel to MLB type abilities.

I could see FS being a more natural fit as an emergency ROLB, especially in a blitz-heavy defensive scheme.

It works fine. There's going to be a -5% or -10% to skills, but if your build is solid it will work. If GLB did a better job of simulating the importance of of the MLB in a 4-3 defense, maybe there would be an issue.
