So per Bort's answer to my questions in Discord:

Unused boosts will go away at season rollover, just as they always have, to be replaced by the available boosts for the next season. This will happen when we roll over from day 44 to day -4 of the next pre-season. I'm sure Bort will have an announcement of what that actual day will be. This is different, of course, from when a dot is initially created - newly created dots do not lose the initial 5 boosts until day 1 of their first season, when they turn 1 day old, exactly as happened this season.

Also on day -4 of season 101, dots will get the TP dump of 36 TP that they receive for the off-season period total. This means that no TP will accrue on days 41-44 of season 100, nor will they further accrue on days -4 to 0 of season 101.

Sluggy, I get that. But the wording isn't that good. What it means is what it has always meant. (I think)

Old way; Dots built before day 48 can early boost but must do so before next season starts.

New way; Dot's built anytime between end of season and start of next (regular) season can early boost.

Difference? Before you HAD to boost before season rollover to get early boosts. Now you can wait until preseason day -0- to early boost.

(plateau)
Old way; Dots that early boosted would get 3 more boosts at plateau + 3 more after day -0- of preseason to reach 79. If a dot missed boosts in a season... OR... did NOT early boost... then the total number of boosts would increase by 3 more, giving you 9 total plateau boosts.

New way; So... if it follows the same pattern then (I thought) it was like this: Dots that early boosted would get 5 boosts + 5 more (same as before) to reach level 79. However... if you did NOT early boost or missed boosts in any season, then you would get 5 MORE boosts since you would be 5 behind everyone else... so 5+5+5 = 15.

That's where I sit confused. Saying you do NOT get those extra 5 means either those that did NOT early boost will remain 5 levels behind... which makes no sense. OR... it's (meaning the system) been changed so that you ONLY GET 5 boosts at plateau and that ONLY those that missed boosts, or did NOT early boost, would get an extra 5 at the end. And that's what I couldn't find in Bort's stuff. I fully admit... maybe I just didn't see it. If so then I stand corrected and it all makes sense. If not then... either I'm right or there's Big Trouble In Little China. (movie reference!)

skip season 0

season 1 = 5 boosts

season 2 = 5 boosts

season 3 = 5 boosts

season 4 = 5 boosts

season 5, day -4 = 5 boosts

season 5, day 0 = 5 boosts (or all 10 boosts available day -4

if you boosted season zero, you only get 5 season 5 boosts

this aligns with how things were previously

season zero = 3
1 = 3
2 = 3
3 = 3
4 = 3
5 = 3
6 = 3
7 = 3
8 = 3 on day -8, 3 more on day 0 for a total of 30

if you skip season zero, season 8 is 3 on day -8, 6 on day 0

Let's walk through this all the way, both old and new systems, and see if we can't find the disconnect in how we're talking about this.

Old system -

Dot creation (days 40 to 48) - dot will not age this season, so we called it season zero. 3 boosts available, 3 boosts max so far.
Season one (days -8 to 48) - dot ages from 1 to 40 days old. 3 boosts available, 6 boosts max so far.
Season two (days -8 to 48) - dot ages from 41 to 80 days old. 3 boosts available, 9 boosts max so far.
Season three (days -8 to 48) - dot ages from 81 to 120 days old. 3 boosts available, 12 boosts max so far.
Season four (days -8 to 48) - dot ages from 121 to 160 days old. 3 boosts available, 15 boosts max so far.
Season five (days -8 to 48) - dot ages from 161 to 200 days old. 3 boosts available, 18 boosts max so far.
Season six (days -8 to 48) - dot ages from 201 to 240 days old. 3 boosts available, 21 boosts max so far.
Season seven (days -8 to 48) - dot ages from 241 to 280 days old. 3 boosts available, 24 boosts max so far.
Season eight (days -9 to 0) - dot does not age, is 280 days old. 3 boosts available, 27 boosts max so far.
Plateau day (day 1, usually but it didn't have to be) - dot is 281 days old, 3 boosts available, 30 boosts max so far. 3 additional boosts are available up to the 30 maximum boosts.

New system -

Dot creation (anywhere from days 40 of season zero to day 0 of season one) - dot is created with 56 TP, and will have a total of 10 boosts available. 5 must be used by day 1 of season one or they will be removed.
Season one (days 1 to 44) - dot ages from 1 to 40 days old. 5 boosts available until day 44, 10 boosts max so far.
Season two (days -4 to 44) - dot ages from 41 to 80 days old. 5 boosts available, 15 boosts max so far.
Season three (days -4 to 44) - dot ages from 81 to 120 days old. 5 boosts available, 20 boosts max so far.
Season four (days -4 to 44) - dot ages from 121 to 160 days old. 5 boosts available, 25 boosts max so far.
Season five (days -4 to 0) - dot does not age, is 160 days old. 5 boosts available, 30 boosts max so far.
Plateau day (day 1, again usually) - dot is 161 days old, up to 5 additional boosts are made available up to the 30 maximum boosts.

So I guess the upshot is, there is a slight difference between the two in the timing, where in the old system the last 3 boosts to make 30 if you hadn't missed any so far didn't come until the dot hit plateau, and then that same day the 3 extra boosts were made available if some had been missed (up to the max of 30, of course). But there were never more than 3 "extra" boosts to be had, if you had missed boosting in season zero, you couldn't miss a single boost anywhere along the way if you wanted to hit level 79.

Same now, except the last 5 boosts to make 30 boosts total comes at season rollover of season 5, NOT at plateau when the dot hits day 161. However, 5 additional boosts will be available when the dot turns 161 days old, up to a max of 30 boosts. So you still CAN skip the first 5 boosts of a dot's career, or any combination of boosts up the ladder that isn't greater than 5 boosts, and still hit level 79.

Does this get us where we need to be? I feel like the slight tweak between the last boosts getting a dot to 30 total boosts available being changed from its plateau day to being day -4 of the season where it will hit plateau has to be the disconnect here.

Just taking the piss. Are you using the latest 5.2 version? If so, I will look at it again and see if I can find out how that might be happening, and if I can fix it.

Here's the link to it, if it says "Upgrade to 5.2" or similar, you're on an older one, if it says "Install again" or something similar, you're on it already, I think.

Its happening for me too, I just didn't use the last available boost.

XP is continuing after Lvl 64 / 48,000 XP when it shouldn't

Dammit, that's so weird. I will look into it. I just tried doing a dot with zero boosts, and it stopped at level 49, just as it should, so I'm not sure if I'll be able to trouble-shoot what's making it run over when boosts get involved.

I'm making progress on getting the rest of the new info from Bort incorporated as well, to try to get the exact behavior to match up again, but I definitely want to fix this level 80 problem before doing anything else.
