Wolves tend to avoid people if they can help it and, don't get me wrong but, MN and most of those midwestern northern states aren't exactly populated like NY and CAL and other states where your neighbor is actually in shouting distance... not 5 miles away. Coywolves would be the one's to snag new calves right out from under your nose as they don't seem to have the same fear of man wolves do.

It's an issue with both wolves and coyotes and yes, the coyotes around here have a lot of wolf DNA in them. People called me crazy when I described how the coyotes around here will hunt in packs and how large they are.

The problem right now in northern MN is the expanded wolf population. They are not grossly overpopulated like the coyotes but they are sprawling in to urban areas because a) they are out of room b) the whitetail population has been decimated both by the predators but mostly because of consecutive brutal winters. I would have to find actual stats but northern minny wolves seem to be averaging about 4 pet dogs per month and they frequent urban areas. I don't think people are doing all they can to limit it because they do dumb shit like put a deer feeder in their wooded backyard so they can watch deer eat when they drink their morning coffee. It's not good for the deer and when food is already limited, wolves get over their fear of humans pretty quick and they learn where the deer are and happen to find cats and dogs in the area as well.

You have to respect their intelligence.

Lions have it figured out even better, the women do all the work and the men just show up and eat and piss all over the place. That's genius.
