Great game Magua. Starting out together in Rookie, it has been a fun rivalry through our last dozen seasons or so. It's a shame this one had to be in the conference championship instead of the finals as we both reboot
Not sure why we keep starting slow, but glad we made the comeback.
We're finally here - the final game of the season - for Casual Pro gold. In one corner we have first time championship representative Not Fast, Just Furious. The owner may not be around but he's got some experience in his corner. The other corner, we have the defending champs who want one more ring before the long climb back up from rooke to pro. A lot of people are talking about sign stealing from sunder A that's led to some great comebacks for the Chiefs. Speaking of comebacks, the Chiefs came storming back in their regular season game. Down 27-10 in the fourth quarter the Chiefs scored the final 21 points for the 31-27 win. Now, I think the D's will be better in the title game and if I were a gambling man (which I am) I'd take the under on 58.
These two don't have great history and I'd not call it a rivalry as the Chiefs have dominated the series since JF made their way to the pro's in S74.
S74: 51-7 S75: 40-7 S76: 37-17 S77: 31-27
As you can see JF doesn't have a hook to hang their hat on but when you have nothing to lose the pressure isn't necessarily on you. Each team is 0-0 at this point and the only thing certain is one team will bring home gold and the other silvery. Let's take a look at the teams.
Not Fast, Just Furious The Western Conference champions come in with a 13-5 record losing to the Saints twice, Chiefs, Spiders and Revenge. It's been an up and down season and I'll quote myself from my pre-season predictions from December 5th " I've told Drew if this team does not win the conference everyone involved should just quit GLB." We certainly expected to be here and not sure many others did.
PLAYER TO WATCH QB Zach Holton is a key when you pass nearly every play. Ole Zach hit the Chiefs D up for 475.5 yards and two TD's in the opener but the one pick he threw was costly. The most underrated stat of the Chiefs/Revenge game was the nine knocked loose balls they forced and Holton and Co. will need to avoid that to continue drives.
KEYS TO THE W 1. Will need some big offensive plays to stay in this one. 2. Need to slow the ground and pound down or be in for a long day. 3. Get some three and outs as the Chiefs have dominated TOP when they win close ones.
Charlestown Chiefs The Eastern Conference and reining Casual Pro champs are a far cry from a surprise. They ran through what I'd call one of the best CP conference from 1-3 in my memory. They dodged the tough first round game but to do that they had to run rough shot in the regular season and the Chiefs come in at 17-1. They have a 16 game win streak with their only loss on the season coming in week one to Sofia (23-20).
PLAYER TO WATCH RB Harry Testies has been hell on wheels for the Chiefs through his career. The dot tore up JF in their regular season game with 189.5 yards and two TD's. The back has been stellar in the first two rounds of the playoffs getting 124 with three TD's and 147.5 with another three. This dot is the key cog to a Chiefs O that can hurt you and score from a variety of ways.
KEYS TO THE W 1. Have come back in many games - don't tempt fate and fall behind deep in this one. 2. Don't turn the ball over where JF can get easy cheap points. 3. Get pressure on QB Holton.
BIG TIME QUOTE Most of you don't know but Bugger McFarland plays GLB. He was nice enough to provide me with a quote for the upcoming title game: "If NFJF score more points than the Chiefs then they'll win."
Thanks Booger.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN My talks with Bort reminding him how much money I've spent on the game do not appear to be falling on deaf ears. As he noted "Don't worry BB <wink><wink>." Now, I don't know what that means but I do know the Chiefs D will make this low scoring and all will depend if the JF D is up to the challenge (see what I'm doing, placing blame on Drew no matter how bad the D is).
I have to go with Cinderella cause she's hot. NFJF - 24 CC - 23
It was a boring Friday night so I did watch the game between Sofia/Revenge - thought the play where the Revenge QB missed a wide open TD to the TE would haunt them but they ended up scoring on the drive. .
