Just going through for player of the week and stumbled across this nugget.

Situation:
Manchester down four with 27 seconds left facing a 4th and .5 from the Washington 5.5 yard line - of course, kick the FG so you don't give yourself a chance to win...nice game ending logic...

Maybe it's a rQB glitch.

4th and .5, but their pass setting is set to 15 yards or whatever. So they're forced to run. 100% run, no deviation from that.

They had no time outs, so they couldn't run it because it won't let you run with no timeouts and less than "X" seconds left.

So they "had" to kick.

I was looking for an example with my QB rushing team but we kick the shit out of everyone Since United had some tight games last year that seemed to be the place to look and found two somewhat similar occurrences.

1. Similar but not quite - they still punted with 50 second left (at there own 41) down by one but a longer 4th at nine yards.

Manchester United 1:17
1:17 1st & 10 OWN 40 Ben Gorman (QB) pass to Galen Reid (ST) up the left side [deflected by Charlie. Peprah] (incomplete)
1:14 2nd & 10 OWN 40 Ben Gorman (QB) rush to the left (0.5 yd loss) [diving tackle: Ezra Johnson]
1:11 3rd & 10.5 OWN 39.5 Offensive Timeout Called: Manchester United
1:11 3rd & 10.5 OWN 39.5 Ben Gorman (QB) rush to the left (1.5 yd gain) [diving tackle: Sean Jones]
0:50 4th & 9 OWN 41 Punt by Edmund Cordero (P), 42 yd (out of bounds)

http://glb.warriorgeneral.com/game/game.pl?game_id=2513217&mode=pbp

2. Own 44.5 facing a 4th and 5.5 with no timeouts left - they punt.

1:45 1st & 10 OWN 20 Ben Gorman (QB) pitch to Elliot Frazier (HB) to the left (1 yd gain) [diving tackle: Charlie. Waters] Replay
1:28 2nd & 9 OWN 21 Carlton Lugo (QB) screen pass to Quinton Ritchie (HB) to the right side, caught (18.5 yd gain) [diving tackle: Brant Smallwood] Replay
1:11 1st & 10 OWN 40 Ben Gorman (QB) rush to the left (2 yd gain) [diving tackle: Jim. Jeffcoat] Replay
0:57 2nd & 8 OWN 42 Carlton Lugo (QB) bad pass to Elliot Frazier (HB), hurried by Dave. Butz, up the right side, jumping catch attempt [deflected by Rod "Boilermaker" Woodson] (incomplete - bad throw) Replay
0:53 3rd & 8 OWN 42 Ben Gorman (QB) pitch to Lee Jorgensen (HB) to the right (3 yd gain) [diving tackle: Duncan Beltran] Replay
0:36 4th & 5.5 OWN 44.5 Punt by Edmund Cordero (P), 51 yd (out of bounds)

Seems odd they're punting in these situtations RQB or not. Hell you see teams going for it inside there own 10 down by 50 with less than a minute left.

pretty shocking considering ManU usually goes for 80 yard field goals.

I think his point is that, hurried or not, when a receiver is that wide open in real life, the only place you throw it "bad" is too long for the receiver. Pee Wee QB's would not make a throw 30 degrees off the intended target even when hurried. At any level of real football, even when hurried, that is an easy completion or an overthrow, not an INT thrown nowhere near the intended receiver.

The middle LB hurry - similar to a QB not being able to step into a throw and caused it to be short. I've seen it several hundred times with my QB but not always a pick just a short throw or throw several yards wide on a crossing route. Nothing wrong with the play imo.

LB with 80 strength sheds two 150+/90+/90+ o-line?

But also yeah, I was mostly commenting on the complete craptasticness of the replay. I do know that replay =/= reality.
