I like to run a result/effect style offense most of the time.
First down- I want at least three yards. I run inside a lot but also plug in any outside runs that jumped out at me while scouting and threeish passes that stood out. I run inside more often than not.
Second down- Im trying to get to 3rd and less than five. Was my first down successful? Did I get three yards?
If yes then it triggers my general runs package, usually inside run heavy.
If it failed then then it triggers my pass packages.
Third down- trying to get to 4th and two.
If my second down play was successful then my inside run package fires.
If it failed the my pass packages trigger.
I change these up quite a bit but the philosophy never changes. Finding the right down and distance to fit a sim is the hard part. If a team is shutting down my runs my offense automatically changes from a run heavy offense to a pass heavy offense never completely abandoning the run. This style offense will eat up the clock.
