Week 1 is in the books and Africa outdid South America taking 10 of 16 games. Nice way to represent.

Africa
Republic (1-0) - Gave up 3 points early in the 1st Q but after that the defense held strong. Big 4th Q saw them rack up 17 points to make this look like a bigger blowout than it was. Great job by TE Nedley, pulling in all 5 passes thrown his way for 91 yds and a TD.

ICB (1-0) - Big game for the Breakers that saw them score double digit points in every quarter. They took a 24-6 lead into halftime and never looked back.

Windhoek (1-0) - Rhinos got off to a slow start on offense but exploded in the 2nd Q for 24 points and headed into the half up 31-7.

Black STEEL Surge (1-0) - Apparently there are still some crappy teams in Pros and BSS drew one in week one. Easy win that shows me nothing as far as what this squad is capable of but the next few weeks will be a great testing ground.

TAP (1-0) - TAP had an easy week 1 opponent and took advantage of it by putting up almost 800 yards of offense.

Sahara (0-1) - A shutout loss is not the way Sahara wants to kick off a season but that's just what happened as they were outplayed by South Side today. They'll need to get that O off the ground to avoid falling to 0-2 and will have to work their way back up the ranks.

Somalia Pirates (1-0) - Pirates put on a solid defensive effort in week 1 while their offense got off to a slow start and stalled on 3 drives in the first half settling for FGs. O picked it up in the 2nd half though for an easy win.

Philly (1-0) - Philly pulled a bye for week 1. Booooring.

Cult (1-0) - Defensive slaughtering the Cult put on this week as they gave up only 1 TD. The O was not to be outdone either as they put up 300 yds on the ground with HB Caffeine leading the charge to the tune of 229 yds on 23 runs.

Mayan Warriors (1-0) - Big win for Mayan over a LEGION squad that won their league last season. The first half was tough for Mayan as they had to settle for 3 FGs until finally getting in the endzone with 7 seconds left in the half to go into halftime down 16-28. The Warriors kicked off the 2nd half with a 72 yd TD run that seemed to reenergize the team and they went on to shutout their opponent the rest of the way for a 40-28 win.

AquaBats (1-0) - First half was an ugly puntathon on both sides until the Bats finally managed a FG at the 2 minute warning. The 2nd half was a whole 'nother game though with the Bats putting up 41 points, with 3 put return TDs, while shutting out Borgata. Return man Dust was definitely the big star in this one.

Spring Hill (0-1) - Hell of a matchup with the Benitos and at halftime the game was all tied up at 10. The Pirates took the lead with a FG in the 3rd Q and then extended the lead early in the 4th with a 92 yd TD run. Then it all fell apart as Santiago went on to tie it up over the next 7 minutes and finally take the lead on a 45 yd TD pass with a minute left in the game. Tough loss.

Rwanda (0-1) - Tough fought game on both sides but the Knights got shutout in the 2nd half to fall in week 1.

Uganda (0-1) - The Silverbacks were in an uphill battle after giving up 17 straight points before finally getting a FG with 5 seconds left in the 1st half. They didn't lay down though and in the 4th started to mount their comeback behind an 87 yd TD run. Uganda tied it up with 3 1/2 minutes left but gave up a huge 59 yd TD pass on 3rd and 10 with 2 minutes left to lose the game.

LEGIONs VBA (0-1) - 4 picks is almost always going to cost you a game and VBA were just manhandled. Protect the QB. 23 hurries and 5 sacks didn't help the situation.

Rocky Mountain (0-1) - The Thunder were shut out in the 1st half making it hard to mount a comeback though they put up a fight in the 2nd half. The run game could have done a little more given some more touches but the big story was the porous run D that gave up a whopping 408 yds as Rush Hour did not attempt a single pass.

Week 2 Picks
Sahara vs RMT
Sahara should get things on the right track this week after slipping up in week 1.

Philly vs BSS
Both teams lucked out in their week 1 draws so this will be their first real test of the season. Expecting a tough game from both sides and looking forward to seeing what the BSS and STEEL foundation can get done here.

RRK vs WWR
Rhinos may be just a bit much for a squad that hasn't been so dominant lately.

Uganda vs Mayan
Impressed with the Warriors week 1 win so going to go with the hot hand.

Benin vs AquaBats
Benin is at the top of the food chain right now so got to stick with them here.

ICB vs LEGION
While the Warriors impressed in week 1, LEGION left me wondering if they could crack the top 8 at all. ICB is a clear playoff team most seasons so this could get ugly.

TAP vs Somalia
TAP had it easy week 1 and I expect a much tougher game this week. Pirates need to get the offense rolling faster to stay in this one though.

SHP vs Cult
Tough one to call here, maybe the toughest this week, but while SHP lost in week 1 I believe they turn it around this week for a close win.

Nice Read.

16 weeks of scrims ahead of us all.
all the fun starts at week 17, and I hope we can limp into the playoffs as an 8th seed.
