Pro League Contraction - coming season 31

Based on user suggestions and complaints and after a careful evaluation of the competition at the higher levels, GLB is moving forward with a plan to contract the Pro Leagues from eight leagues to four. We feel that this will improve the competitiveness of the Pro Leagues and will make winning mean more at the higher levels. This will be effective season 31. What the new structure will look and how movement will happen is as follows:

--World League, works as it currently does, top 16 stay, bottom 16 demote.
--Four Pro Leagues (names to be determined) - top 4 from each Pro League promote. Remaining playoff teams stay, bottom 16 demote.
--Regional Pro - works in tiers like it currently does and pulls teams to replace the bottom 16 that have demoted from the Pro Leagues based on how promotions are currently done with emphasis given to the Regional Pro Elite Leagues.

In order to accomplish this, we're going to have to do some unique movements in the season 31 off season to fill the four Pro Leagues (128 teams). This means the normal bottom two demote system will no longer be in place so teams at the Pro Level need to pay careful attention to the following. This is the general plan that Bort has outlined:

We have to account for teams that gut or are sold so we will sort by an ordered list so that we can start at the top and fill down until we have hit 128 teams and then sort by rivalries.

The ordered list will look approximately like this:

--Demoting WL teams, in order of record, normal tiebreakers (playoff wins, playoff games played, wins, ties, points allowed, points scored) - 16 teams assuming no CPUs or guts
--Top 80 playoff pro teams by normal tiebreakers - 80 teams assuming no CPUs or guts (running total 96) - keep them in the same related leagues
--Top 18 elite teams by normal tiebreakers - 18 teams assuming no CPUs or guts (running total 114)
--Top 14 competitive teams by normal tiebreakers - 14 teams assuming no CPUs or guts (running total 128)

That's 128 teams if nobody guts or demotes or quits. However, they will, so, continue with the list to fill out the rest of the Pro Leagues. Once the Pro Leagues have been filled, we will go through the list and fill out the Regional Pro leagues as follows:

--Remaining pro teams not 15th or 16th, ordered by tiebreakers
--Remaining elite teams not 15th or 16th, ordered by tiebreakers
--Remaining playoff teams from competitive ordered by tiebreakers
--Playoff teams from regional normal ordered by tiebreakers
--15th/16th place pro teams
--15th/16th place elite teams
--Remaining competitive teams ordered by tiebreakers
--Remaining normal teams ordered by tiebreakers
--Semi Pro teams will also promote to Regional Pro Leagues using the usual method we've been using to place them into elite, competitive, and normal.
--Fill with CPUs if needed

I have waited until now to make this simple announcement.

For a variety of reasons, most not relating to our ignominious exit from the tournament nor the playoffs,
the Manhattan Midnight Warriors will be demoting to Rookie level for season 31.

This decision was made and announced internally more than 12 days ago.

Although we had intended to continue onward for several more seasons, circumstances conspired to make
this move most reasonable and desirable at this time.

On behalf of the team, I would like to say the level of competition has made the past many seasons simply awesome
and I appreciate greatly the teams that have bested us in so many games as well as those we were still able to overcome
by the gift of Bort or even a fortuitous selection of game tactics.

I am hopeful that we shall inherit formidable opponents in the seasons ahead as well as the ability to surpass former successes.

I will not enumerate every team that I should mention, but each has contributed to our enjoyment of the game
despite the never-ending meddling of Bort each season rendering best lain plays null and void.

We look forward to a new start and the opportunity to implement and codify the knowledge gained by our competition with you!

Change can be a wonderful thing in life.

An opportunity to meet new friends.

We will always treasure our friends of season 30, ...........................................................YOU!

The good voters of this country need to disregard all the distractions that both parties employ, and choose their candidate on what matters most to them personally.

My personal feelings, which don't matter to anyone but me, are that neither candidate has proven that one should be elected over the other. What I feel needs to change is that we only get 2 candidates to choose from...Since when has that ever worked out well for everyone? It's the equivalent of having to choose between white or black, for us or against us...absolutism in my opinion, has no place anywhere, much less in politics.

What you say has validity. Our system in America is not perfect and never will be.
It is only preferable over the despotic rule of evil tyrants who dictate to the people.

Some might say that I just described the federal government in America.
In a purist sense, they might be correct.

The world has seen many attempts at governing the people.
Some forms of government do not equip the people to make change except by bullets and blood.

We have a system albeit often corrupted, compromised and ineffectual.
This system attempts to give voice to change.

Four years ago the people selected CHANGE.
Did they get what they voted for?

Well, they got something. Was it the CHANGE America wanted and needed?

Frankly, I was very hopeful about the winds of CHANGE until meetings about CHANGE became CLOSED meetings!

....until cooperation between parties and branches of government became "WE WON THE ELECTION!"

....until CHANGE eschewed the lofty sentiments of governing cooperatively and simply became another gang ruling us all.

I believe we need CHANGE......CHANGE in many things. I am not certain that we get the options that we need as voters.

Our system is very incremental.

Most who want CHANGE, desire CHANGE and demand CHANGE are impatient with our system of change.

We once feared the explosion of a suit case nuke in Washington, DC by extremist Muslims bent on ji-had.

I often wonder if eliminating the bureaucrats, the lobbyist, the special interests, the professional politicians might not be a benefit.

The selection of Congress anew from the grassroots could be a positive thing. We could use the phone book to randomly select the 535 leaders and certainly do no worse than the career minded demagogues we have now.

Decades have passed knowing social security and medicare are broke. No one has the courage to face the people and say,
"We are not able to sustain the gravy train without adjustments to benefits as well as taxes." Oh wait...our President did appoint a commission to do that and has ignored their findings ever since.

Since High School, I believed in our system fervently. My major at the University of New Orleans was political science.
I worked in many political campaigns. I desired to be a police officer. That desire was extinguished at the age of 18, but
i held on to my idealism. I didn't stop dreaming about tomorrow.

I have changed.

I no longer hope for man to learn how to govern properly. I actually do not believe we are capable of the altruism required.

My hope is in the Creator.

He alone has the power.

He alone has the altruism.....perfect love.

He alone is trustworthy.

He alone truly loves me despite my legion of imperfections.

He alone is the perfect Father.

There are those who are humanist.....secularist.......believers in man.

They are worshiping oddly the creation instead of the Creator.

I have met them. I have heard them.

Who is wise enough and strong enough to hang a star in the sky?

No one on earth.

So I look elsewhere.

Each morning I view His creation and I say, "Good Morning, Lord."

I do not understand any more than I understand most anything. I am so limited.

I do know 2 things in life for sure.

1) There is a God.
2) I am not Him.



I have a problem with love.
It is from a childhood of dysfunction.

I cannot understand why God should choose to love me and want me to be with Him forever.
He has made a way through the sacrifice of His Son that I might have a free gift of eternal life.

I don't deserve that. i deserve life in the electric chair as i like to say.
His mercy has done more than commuted my earned sentence.
He has expunged my record....as though I never did wrong in the first place!

I don't know how to love God.
My faith and trust in Him is so weak, puny and tenuous that it seems almost laughable.

What can you do for a friend who has everything and gives you everything?
I struggle to "feel" love for God. I struggle to obey, trust and believe in Him.
I am constantly exhibiting my imperfections and will likely do so until I see Him face to face.

My hope is that everyone will come to the banquet and wedding feast already prepared.
All are invited. Some will not RSVP....sadly.

I hope you are not offended by my hopes.
I would love to see all of you forever.

It is there that I will truly understand love.
My wife loves me too. Can't understand why?

In summary...

Man is trying to govern himself.
This will not succeed despite our fondest hopes IMHO.
The imperfections of man are a constant and subverts any system man creates.
There is nothing wrong in idealistically hoping. Such is only frustrating.

Any system not founded upon God's law is destined to failure IMHO.

Let every man vote.
That trust in the collective wisdom is ill fated.
It was that trust since high school that I had embraced.

I no longer trust in the collective wisdom of man.

But yes, I too believe that our current political structure is broken. It is broken, and nothing will change unless we Americans get our heads out of our collective asses, and demand that things change. Huge monetary bailouts have failed to stimulate the economy, but shipping jobs overseas to achieve greater profits, resulting in lost jobs and wages in this country doesn't work either.

I am Catholic by birth, and still believe in God...However I am anti organized religion. I find it abhorrent, when atrocities are committed in God's name, whether it's flying planes into buildings, a human blowing himself/herself up in the middle of a crowded market, or bombing a women's clinic ( aka "abortion clinics" ). Too often, systems founded upon God's law (such as Theocracies) become corrupted by religious extremists. This country was founded by men who believed in God, but knew there needed to be some separation of church & state.

I agree on the point of religion.

Such is man's organizational way of defining God IMHO and quite often .... I believe ... erroneously.

There are Judeo-Christian principles. ( e.g. 10 Commandments)

Oddly, our founding father's were no more perfect than we are.

They struggled with slavery which they abhorred, but to maintain unity they swallowed silently allowing slavery to continue.

All they did was kick the can down the road. (The fate of social security reform for many years to our detriment.)

Many perform despicable acts in the name of their religion.
Many perform despicable acts despite their religion.

I am a non-denominational Christian who embraces the Bible and the Holy Spirit as the governing authority over my life.

I often fail to follow my own beliefs and find the necessity of asking forgiveness.

Jesus was asked about forgiveness. He said to forgive 70 x 70 meaning....just do it....as the Nike ad used to say.

My wife has forgiven me at least 70x70 in the 35 years of marriage.

My imperfections are legion. I am in most need of mercy, forgiveness and restoration in my life.

Sadly, most leaders create a facade of false piety making them akin to the Pharisees and hypocrites of that era.

Jesus gave us 2 laws to follow that summarizes all the law of the old testament.

The Greatest Commandment.... The Gospel of Matthew....

34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

These laws cut across all the vain imaginings of man as he strives to justify behavior that is indefensible.

I am grateful for forgiveness.

I do differ in one respect from your assertion.

The founding fathers wanted to escape from a government that had established a state run religion.
They wanted each person to be free to worship God in their own church rather than a government run church.
That sentiment has been exaggerated by some to sanitize all aspects of our society of God Himself.

The decline of America can be directly seen with secular efforts to eliminate Godly principles from our life.

The elimination of all prayer in school starting in the 50's has not served the youth of America well.

The embracing of abortion and the "right" to murder a defenseless child in the uterus has been supported
by many church going hypocrites as they seek a comfortable way to hide their sins of fornication from the
remainder of society preserving their facade of propriety.

Although sin is popular and those who oppose sin are viewed as haters and inflexible agents of discrimination,
I will not succumb to those in opposition to God. It is a human right to sin and oppose God. Even He has given
man free will to refuse all invitations to live with Him forever.

The Cross is a stumbling block as is Jesus. I understand that. God loves the sinner and asks me to do so as well.
Those who persecute sinners in righteous indignation are not being sensitive to God's Holy Spirit.

In my humble opinion, abortion will bring judgement upon America. I believe that many will reap what they have sown.
I am not happy to see that happen. I have compassion for the one far away from God. I was once such a person.

I believe that God must be part of American life again.
The voluntary prayer at various public venues should not be eliminated by the atheist who seek to erase our heritage
as God fearing people.

The Catholic Church is under attack by government and atheist who believe that they know what is best for Catholics.
I would prefer that Catholics decide what is best for Catholics not the government, the ACLU nor the atheist.

It takes great foolishness to stand and shake your hand defiantly at God.
That same prideful behavior was first exhibited by Lucifer when he rebelled against God.

I pray that all voluntarily bow their knee to God and receive eternal life.
