I would think AGI would be the third most important skill for an OT. Why do so may OTs have such low AGI, even at higher levels?

Because they have bad builds mainly.

edit: Oh, and I have a little over 30 Agi and I've allowed 2 hurries and 0 sacks over the past two seasons.

See now I would *think* that only 30 AGI would be low for a lvl 24 OT.. But then again, you're on a good team who goes up against good competition, so the fact you've given up zero sacks seems to suggest higher AGI is not that important *yet*

What I don't understand is:
a) there are DEs out there with 55+ AGI and speed, so wouldn't an OT need 40+ AGI and some speed just to make sure to engage a speed-rusher (as opposed to bull-rusher)?

and following from the above

b) What are the main attribs of an OT: ie after BL/STR I would think AGI and then VIsion and then speed. Also not sure the importance of SAs relative to all these

This is why I'm asking about AGI importance! cheers

Well, it breaks down into two things for me.

First, I have 6 points in protect so I guess 30 agility isn't really accurate but we don't know what kind of a multiplier it has so who knows.

Second, we'll never need nearly as much agility as the DEs because they have to go around us and all we have to do is get between them and the QB, they have a lot more ground to cover than we do.

As far as the main attributes after BL/STR I go agility/vision then speed and if I ever feel like grabbing an SA I just put a point into protect. The only plays I really get beat on are plays where HBs go out on a route and the DE runs through the HB and my LT watches and laughes I guess.

How high are y'all taking STR/BLK? I'm now at the point with my L15 that I'm closing in on 60/60 STR/BLK and want to know when I should stop as a tackle.

Also, it sounds like y'all favor vision over speed?

I feel like the following would be a good base LOT build.

60 str/60 blk
30 spd/30 agi/30 vision
dump into Protector

Or should I aim to take BLK, SPD and AGI up a bit higher to make the boost from Protector that much better?

My take has always been that I'll train SPD/AGI/VIS and use points for blocking/strength and SAs (mainly Protector) and that has worked out pretty well for me thusfar. I wish my speed was a little higher but I'd rather keep upping my blocking and str than put points into speed.

Oh, and I'm 61/68 str/block.

Are you guys putting points into Blocking and Strength even when it costs 2?

gotham, I am right now. For my OT considering taking both STR and BLK to the +3 soft cap.

I know for a C I'm building will likely take it to the +4 soft cap.

Yeah, I wanna get my str/blocking up to ~80 each before I consider pumping points into other stuff.

More importantly, why make an RB named Jamelle Eugene and not Andre Brown?

^ because some asshat Carolina fan created an Andre Brown in season 1 and is just letting him rot there.

Thank Motiak, been meaning to get back to you on this for awhile..

Totally ignored the Protect skill... that looks very key. I wonder how much AGI/speed boost that really gives, but since no one has gotten by you for a sack yet it must be significant

Indeed!!! I couldn't agree more

Tackles don't seem to need as much speed as guards, because they don't run out on sweep plays or anything like that. I'd say they need more agility than any other lineman, though... Meanwhile I think they can get away with the least strength, since DE's are tending to focus more on agility than strength at this point.
