I wanted to start this thread before we all started making dots for next season. There is definitely a "standard" way to build dots, and it sort of makes the game boring when everyone is doing things the same way. LE keeps talking about trying some top secret "crazy build" next season, and I am actually curious what people have attempted in the past. If you're worried about divulging build secrets, then I'd just be curious about your crappy, failed experiments. ;p I'm actually especially curious about SAs people use.

I'll start:
The past two seasons I've been experimenting with extremely-high agility-based players. Last season, I used agility-equipment on my entire defensive besides the DLine. Basically, I was sick of screens toasting me in the beginning of the season because my players would overrun it, so I made speed my #1 attribute still, but put my equip in Agility to help balance it out early season. It actually worked pretty well, so I wouldn't dissuade anyone from doing the same. I mean, there are definitely drawbacks, but it helped overcome how noticeable low agility is in the start of the season.

But this season, I took it a step further and I built my linebackers entirely with agility as the #1 and agility equipment. [I would not recommend this. They got toasted. Especially with the change to dline pressure, QBs were able to hold onto the ball longer and my LBs simply weren't able to keep up with guys that long. Furthermore, they still exhibited the same bad coverage behavior, where they kept running away from the receiver after the pass was thrown instead of locking onto the guy. I scrapped the experiment mid season and have been put my equipment upgrades into speed, among other changes.

Furthermore, I played around with high (2nd cap + eq) agility WRs, thinking that this would make the overrunning coverage even more pronounced. This hasn't really been the case. In fact, they seem to exhibit even less of it than other players (such as speed TEs.)

From this experiment, I believe:
Agility doesn't really do much when it comes to coverage overrunning. I actually think it's primarily based on speed and vision for the defensive player. I think speed comes into play because, if a defender is slower, I think they try and get out in front of the receiver (so they don't get burned deep.) And then vision causes the delay in the reaction to the ball. Anyone find out anything differently?

A few seasons ago I built an entire team based off of SAs. Complete fail. They were too slow by neglecting primaries and secondaries. I started off pumping the bonus SA with 4 to 5 points which would cost 9 sps. Then dumped another lot into the first two green SAs. The players were slow and would never catch up by seasons end.

Seen a player this season that did the same with his player. He poured a lot of sps into an SA and his dot is still suffering from it.

I wouldn't call it top secret but I wouldn't want others trying it if it failed. I don't use the VPB so I wouldn't even know where to start with that so I will have to wait until seasons end.

I have also tried high agility players and have to agree, speed also has to be high if not higher than agility.

Done some weird RQB ones (8 in juke or spin +carrying), done high aura of int CB, head hunter + tactics to force fumble on FS, 10 in lower shoulder on powerFB. idr rest, had a few odd ones.

I've never taken an SA higher than 6 (pump fake, and that's only because it's ... well... pump fake.) Anything else is 2-4. There's just too much of a premium on skill points for most positions.

My next crazy build:
I put 2 points in glare on about half my defensive players. I have no idea why. I think I read a long time ago it was good. I don't know if it actually is or if I'm being an idiot or what. Any team that has played me in the 2nd part of this season, can you do me a favor and see what your QB morale was like. If it was super low, yay. If it normal, tell me so I stop putting points into it. lol

12 pump fake, awesome early season but by playoffs he was awful.

I went ahead and got the bonus SA "Shed Blocks" for all of my DBs and put two SPs it it but it seemed to fail pretty bad...Although it doesn't say it in the description I think you need decent strength for it to fire.

I also went a little crazy with SAs on one of my HBs but the build wasn't able to pan out in full since the dot was on my no/no team. Just by what the dot did this season without me being able to get the full build completed he still tore it up in the league. I would imagine that dot would be crazy good right now in the playoffs if I would have boosted him.

I also probably do my training a little differently than most which got me 3 d-linemen in the MVP race in Gold in season 26 and one of them won it with 35 sacks on the season but with the nerf they put on the line, my builds didn't really mean much this season on the d-line....So I might as well let everyone see how that 35 sack/78+ Hurries dot was built.

-Still had 5 SPs to spend when I retired him and 12 BTs

Speaking of DBs and needing STR for Shed Blocks:

Strength CBs to pancake WRs. I don't know if anyone has every build one and I haven''t either, but I thought about it/came up with the idea over this season. If anyone has build one how'd it work out?

I don't think strength CBs are crazy at all. I personally think having 6 STR on a CB is suicidal and a recipe for disaster on outside runs and screens, so if you face a team built for that, you're going to get thrashed. I've never taken it to a softcap level though.

Has anyone run a morale-hammering based DLine? I'm thinking about something like that next season because I'm pretty sure my DLine does nothing but get blocked. :/

When I was a no/no team in gold, I used to go with that kind of D-line. Would help off-set the boosting somewhat. Didn't help much with stopping the pass, but I would stop the inside run very easily.

7 min left in the 4th quarter my QB has more moral than the rest of the line up does.
In fact he is the only one in the green still, though his confidence is at 40 and the next highest dot in the line up is like 26.
