We all play Casual because we don't want to make this game a second job, which it has become over the seasons in regular Leagues. We enjoy 20 minutes of scouting and game planning and then being on our merry way.
However even though we don't want to make this a chore I feel there are some things that can enhance the Casual playing experience. We need to put our heads together, and come up with legitimate things that can be added to the Casual AI to make it more user friendly.
Again keep in mind, we want to keep this Casual
Run Play Calling
Right now we have :
Inside or Outside
Run Left or Run Right
Halfback, Fullback or Quarterback
How about adding:
Inside: Plays designed for the HB/FB to run between Guard/Center/Guard
Off Tackle: Plays designed for the HB/FB to run from the Guard's outside shoulder to the TE's Outside shoulder.
Outside: Plays designed for the HB/FB to run well you know, Outside
Right now there are several plays in the "Inside" and "Outside" playbooks that fit the criteria for Off Tackle. They could be removed from the Outside/Inside playbooks and put into their own category playbook. What this does is give us a little more freedom to use our FB's vs our HB's . As it is now, most of us aren't going to use our FB's outside and our HB's Inside. There are plays in the Inside playbook that the HB's could be sucessful on, and those would fall under the "Off Tackle" play book. There are also plays in the outside playbook that FB's could be successful in and those would be moved to the new playbook.
HB run %, FB run %, QB run %
Right now we have a % output of total run plays. How about dividing them up into each playbook category.
Example setting current system: HB 75% FB 20% QB 5%
It could be broken down further into:
HB 75% of total run plays 90% Outside 10% Off Tackle 0% Inside
FB 20% of total run plays 0% Outside 20% Off Tackle 80% Inside
QB 5% of total run plays 100% Outside 0% Off Tackle 0% Inside
To use nice round even numbers we'll say there were 100 run plays in the game example above.
HB had 75 run plays
FB had 20 run plays
QB had 5 run plays
Of the 75 HB run plays 68 of them came from the Outside playbook, and 7 came from the Off Tackle playbook, zero from the Inside playbook
Of the 20 FB run plays zero came from the Outside playbook, 4 came from the Off Tackle playbook, and 16 came from the Inside playbook
....and the QB got 5 outside runs.
Passing Down Long Distance
Right now we set the yardage that we consider to be a long passing down. It can be broken down further to give us more options
Running Down Short distance
Set the yards you consider a short yardage run and are willing to go for it on 4th down.
So we can have a window to set what yard line we are willing to go for it on 4th down
Go for it on 4th down
Distance
50 yard line(this would normally be from what you set it at to what you have your FG distance set at)
Frequency when trailing
80%
Frequency when leading
30%
Check off box
When trailing by +3 disregard FG Distance __1stQ __2ndQ __3rdQ __4thQ
Blitz
Right now we are offered a generic % output. But who is blitzing? LB's? S's? CB's? Give us the same set up as the QB Spy tactics. Let us set an amount of players we want to blitz, then give us individual positional output %'s.
Red Zone Tactics
Offense and Defense
Basically this would be and exact representation of all the other Tactics selections we have now, but would allow you to enter different output %'s than the other previous 80 yards of field play. For example, if your tactics are set to 60% pass and 40% run, once Inside the 20 yard line, now you set them for 75% Run 25 % pass, and where as previously you had your tactics set at 85% Outside Run, now in the Red Zone your setting them to 35% Outside run, 35% Off Tackle Run and 30% Inside run.
Goal Line Tactics
Offense and Defense
Same tactics selections just for Inside the 5 yard line
QB progression priority
Be allowed to set your QB progression priority. Exp. WR - 75% TE - 10% HB - 10% FB - 5%
*****anything more detailed or more specific than this IMO is bordering on Advanced AI
That is just a couple things I thought of off the top of my head. Give me your thoughts and suggestions. Maybe we can present a sound plan and request to Catch22 to implement before going out of Beta. Remember, we are stuck with what we have once the game is final.
