It isn't the age caps, not really. The problem still lies in how they're dividing the teams up to form the leagues. Just because a team missed the playoffs in league 1 by one game, or lost their first round playoff game, is not enough of a reason to bounce a team out of League 1/Elite.
I'm all for promoting/demoting based on team success, but a common sense calculation based on team talent has to be used as well. If a team that is up for promotion has an average SP that is 15-20% lower than the team they would potentially replace, than that swap shouldn't happen. Since Elite is supposed to be the best 32 teams in the tier, than logically the top 15 teams in the tier should all theoretically be playoff teams in Elite if the leagues were sorted correctly.
1. Red River Rampage: (NC) Their ranking is in no danger of changing until they lose a game, and that won't likely happen unless they get eliminated from the GLB Tourney. That has never happened before.
2. Minnesota Junk Mailers: (NC): The traveling Junk Show will play anyone at any time, regular teams, university teams, whatever, and they still haven't lost a game. Send your scrims pl0x.
3. Dallas Badgers: (NC): Dallas hasn't really played anyone yet because of the way their schedule came out, but they haven't done anything to hurt their standing either. Things will get busy before long though.
4. The Junk Yard Dogs: (+2): Some nice wins over both Glorious 55 and Holt, as well as quality wins over River City and Tug Valley pushes JYD up into the top 5. Their play is matching how they look on paper so far.
5. Tehran Twelvers: (+9): Offseason/Preseason ended, and they stopped screwing around and got back to their winning ways. Convick is killing it, and Dion Sorenson is going to have the best season a Non-DLeague CPU dot has ever had since Alpha.
6. The Glorious 55: (-2): Perhaps I had them too high before, but I see them beating everyone below them on this list.
7. Holt what I don't even (-2) Losses to JYD and the Twelvers hurt their stock, but they'll rebound and remain in the top 10 all season most likely.
8. JetNation Titans (+1): As of right now, they have not played their tournament game with MJM. A loss in that game really won't hurt much, but a win would be a big deal. As of this moment though, the nice win against Darwin pushes them up one spot to 8th.
9. Darwin Desert Dingoes (+1) A close win against Iron River, and a close loss to JetNation are the only interesting games they've had, but they've got the talent, and they've gone toe to toe with the teams that they should be able to hang with.
10. Iron River Steelers (-2) : Iron River's defense is special, it can just about beat you by itself. Unfortunately their offense has been anemic. The three tough games they've played against MJM, Darwin, and Chicago had a combined 46 points scored in them total by all teams, and they went 1-2. If they get the offense going they'll be scary.
11. Uh Oh Squad (-4) A loss in a lolgame against Glorious 55 doesn't tell you much because they're networked, but a close loss to a 4-0 regular team does tell you they're quality. Still, they're gonna have to play someone to move up and stay there.
12. New England Cowboys (NC) League 2 is shaping up to be the weakest of the four leagues by far, and New England is the best they got by a significant margin.
13. Tug Valley Hooligans (++) They've beat Baltimore Crimewave twice, beat Columbus Angry Dragons, beat Tehran in preseason, and only lost to JYD and JetNation.
14. Devils Rejects (-1) They are who we thought they were. No more, no less.
15. Columbus Angry Dragons (++) Columbus cracks the top 15 by beating River City Ransom and Vancouver Vipers, while losing a squeaker to Tug Valley. We'll see how long they can stay here.
River City Ransom (--) Suffered a terrible start to the season, losing to damn near every quality opponent they've had.
Bay Area Bulls (--) The only thing they did to deserve falling out of the top 15 was not play anyone.
