the BCS is flawed but they use that for college football rankings

so why not some thing that gives you an idea about where your team might rank

it doesnt need to be an exact type thing but more of a guage

I like any idea to encourage competition between players. Would you include tournament games in the rankings or just league games? Non official games could easily be used to skew the rankings, but official tourney games could conceivably be included.

I didn't say necessarily that script, just one similar. The best thing would be a ranking similar to the script, but than also have it sortable by average SP. Either way, any cross league rankings is going to have a small sample size.

That said, if you were ranked number 1 in the tier out of league 3, and I was ranked number 2 in the tier out of league 1, I'd send you a scrim, and than I would taunt you mercilessly in the combined league forum until you accepted it. Give someone something to chase, and they'll generally chase it. Because of that, small sample size shouldn't be a problem, at least on the teams that will be chasing the top spot.

I was thinking ranked scrims too, but you're right it would be exploitable. In that case I would use probably GLB Tournament games and League Games. Using tournament data would be about the only way you'd get any usable cross league data to generate rankings from if you don't use ranked scrims.

You could combine with this suggestion:

to have a free-flowing ladder system to encourage cross-league games, and aid in improving the rankings. A teams' ladder rank could even be included in their overall ranking.

I am loving the way this is sounding. I myself would love to get this type of thing going it is exactly what GLB has been missing a true way to get rivalries into the game again.
