Bracket can be found here:

http://www.bracketmaker.com/tmenu.cfm?tid=385222

Seeding and byes were done randomly. Each of the teams were assigned a random number using a random number generator and then teams were placed in brackets and given byes based upon those numbers.

WARNING - make sure you leave a scrimmage slot open. If we can not schedule a game in a reasonable amount of time (within 3-4 days of completion of previous game) we will be forced to make your team forfeit.

NOTE - do not schedule games, GLB will schedule them for you.

What exactly is the reason for all the first round byes? Why wouldn't you just have some of those teams play each other?

How random is it that two teams with the same name both get byes to play each other in the middle of the bracket?

Should play everyone in a first round game with some winning teams getting a bye in the second round to help even out the bracket.

You can't - it wouldn't fill out the brackets if you didn't have the first round byes the proper way. You basically have to take the total number of teams entered, take the overage from 64 (so if there were 85 teams entered, the overage would be 21), multiply that overage by two to get the non-bye # of participants (so if 21, would be 42). Subtract that number to get the number of first round byes (85=42 = 43). The 42 teams playing would reduce to 21 giving us 64 participants. People complained that we didn't let everyone in last year, so we're doing it this way to ensure everyone has an opportunity to play. I don't have time to do seeding for 20 different tournaments so random is what it's going to be.

Is a scrim slot only counted if it is on an off day - so for rookie leagues the even days? I ve got 4 of these days booked from the start of the season, first free would be 24th, 5 days after the first set of games on the 19th. Does that mean an auto forfeit?

It will be if I can't schedule the match in a reasonable time. I would recommend always leaving one open day in a four day window.

if you have 21 byes you have 53 teams playing in the second round (64 teams play in the first round, reduce it to 32+21 byes = 53).

This is true....just that 43 byes in a round seems like a waste.
