Forum > Game Changes Discussion > I'm not seeing the logic behind not getting the new SAs through AEQ.

It seems unbalanced, and like there's no good reason for it.

Take the CBs for example, Man, Zone, and Hard Hitter, there are 3 SAs that tie directly to those archetypes Shutdown Coverage, Zone Specialist, and Jack hammer

Now any builder worth his salt doesn't touch SAs before level 50, but they do get them through CEQ and AEQ. If I'm building a man corner, chances are I'm rockimg SDC from my 30s on. If I'm building a zone or hard hitter, I have to cripple my build efficiency to build up ZS or JH before level 50.

Not to mention the fact that a man corner can rock 2 pieces of SDC AEQ and NEVER HAVE TO PUT SP IN IT.

Then there are the players who pick an existing SA as their bonus who also get to use AEQ on it both early and late in their careers. What is the difference other than they are older SAs?

IT seems like these new SAs are a pretty bad choice for your player because of the AEQ limitation.

It also discourages DCs who would like to run something besides cookie cutter man coverage. To run a zone D you are a forced to use inferior CBs because of how they have to spend SP on their key SA while man CBs don't.

Am I overlooking some logical reason why this must be? Or is it just too much of a pain to code in some new items to the AEQ store?

because if they are available through AEQ then they don't really force a player to make a strategic decision when choosing their extra SA upon archetype creation. This was more about being something extra for players but also making it a choice they have to make.

Imo, even with AEQ peeps still are smart to get SA's to 10, and obviously having a bonus SA with AEQ is better than just having a 5-bomb with AEQ sitting there. Just make the new pieces rarer than current pieces and it in no way compromises the strategic decision players make at creation.

....what's one SA gonna do for a dot anyway....there'll be a counter to it and it'll seem like it never works anyway....

How are the new ones any different than the the old ones though?

They certainly don't seem any more powerful. Why should Diguise Blitz be so much harder to choose for your blitzing LB than First Step?

Aside form Zone Specialist and Scat Back that apply to very specific builds. Why would anyone choose the new ones if they are so limited?

It just seems sloppy that there is this handful of SAs that are handicapped while other equally useful ones are not.

real simple as to how they are different. They aren't part of any position's SA tree.

I appreciate the input, but this isn't changing.

Question: Why are we still living in the stone age when it comes to getting this information to the user base?

My team is a top ranked team in CPL, and I had nooooooooo idea any of this stuff was occurring.

If my team can go 14-2, about to play in the conference final of what I thought was an elite league, then it would seem
as if I'm pretty into the game. I've been gameplanning for a couple hours. Yet, I had no clue any of this VA to SA crap was
happening until today.

I don't have any real complaint -- if you guys truly think you are communicating, then you're just not understanding what
communication actually is. I pay more than $50 per season to boost my players, yet never know anything that's happening
until it has already happened.

I thought when Hazy/Catch "took over" for Bort that it would work better along the lines of communication, but really only
seems to help those who are in the loop -- or those who are on the forums 24 hours per day.

Post more announcements. That's all I have to say. Post them MoFo's daily. Keep guys like me in the loop. I do NOT have
time to come troll the forums for half the day. Not only is it a waste of my time, but I find it irritating to interact with a lot of
people on here. I just like the game, the dots, and the competition. Nothing else.

That's really not a difference as far as on-the-field performance goes. The LB doesn't care where his new SA came from, just that he didn't have it before and now he does.

I feel like there wasn't enough manpower to pull off the Arch specific SA compliment so Bort just went with the handful that he had and it feels like a half-done game component. There just isn't enough of them/enough difference between them to warrant separate treatment, if you were limited to ONLY these choices in the bonus SA slot it would make sense but , again, there isn't enough of them.

It seems like no new SAs would have been preferable over this quirky hand full of redheaded stepchildren.

I REALLY appreciate that you're here discussing this stuff with us. But that second part has been said before.

Any significant change that has been made has been announced. Way more so than in the past. What change have I not announced?

Was there a Q & A session before I came on? That's better communication.

Was there a Test Server Discussions Forum before I came on? That's better communication.

Was there a Game Changes Discussion Forum before I came on? That's better communication.

Was there a searchable Wiki on Q & A and Bort quotes before I came on? That's better communication.

There are still things I need to work on and improve but to say that communication hasn't gotten better is to be blunt... ridiculous.

Both posters have valid points...
1. Communication is better
2. Communication needs to be better

+1 to more announcements.

What about making the AEQ only show up in the store if you pick the SA as your bonus. And allow only one piece.

1) This gives the player the ability to support the SA without having to commit 55 skill points or 11 levels to get the SA to 10. Which honestly is most likely build suicide with the average player.

2) The player is still forced to make choices because they really only have enough Bonus tokens to support so many pieces. That means they will be forced to choose supporting their bonus SA over picking up a second percentage piece or supporting another SA.

Pretty much the only choice a player has currently is the bonus SA or take AEQ. Because they will need the skill points the bonus tokens can give to support their build.

Would be the most elegant solution, tbh.

Zone Specialist, once it got nerfed into the ground (stops working as soon as the ball is thrown) was only functional in conjunction with Ball Hawk anyway. Now you're telling me I have to spend 55 SP on it to make it 2/3's as nonfunctional as it was? Or is Bort going to take the nerf back off of this now that it's an SA, so that it's at least equal to SDC?

Seriously, Catch. 3 seasons and thousands of flexies are tied up into my Tampa-2 experiment, and you guys have pounded away with the nerf hammer on the zone each offseason since we started it up.

If you pick man CB, you have a chance to roll SDC. If you pick zone, you have a chance to roll ZS, and if you pick hard hitter, you have a chance to roll JH. Seems like a highly elegant solution to a problem of Bort's own making.
