Gold teams don't simply boost at mid-season. It's a game of see how you do vs the other teams and pick when you should boost based on your record and the boosting level of the other teams.
While this is my 1st season in Gold, it seems to be shaping up like this...
No team fully boosts the first quarter of the season. Some might boost their kicker/punter and maybe some other special teams players, but that's about it.
In the 2nd quarter of the season, those teams doing well wont boost, but those with a loosing record often will. If you are 2-4 after 6 games, then you probably will boost just to try to make sure you are not one of the teams that get demoted.
In the 3rd quarter, those at .500 or just above will start to boost as they are trying to make the playoffs at all, and not let those teams that boosted in Q2 catch up.
The teams with the best records will try to wait until the 4th quarter of the season to boost. But that's risky because they will start to loose games against boosted teams and will drop in the standings.
Some teams boost in stages, like special teams first, defense later, and offense last, or something like that.
When to boost is starting to look like a big factor in Gold. Do it badly, even with a good team, you risk demotion.
