But at least if they want to build a fast guy, they might pick a type with a speed bonus.

We really need to make it so RAGEs guide to player building is the first thing new players see. Or at least a "hey it's beneficial to cap attributes" bubble somewhere. When I first started I was like "you want 2 SP for that now? screw that, I'm nobodies fool!"

I did the same thing.

I think it will widen it quite a bit for a couple of seasons then it will level back to probably where it is now.

Many players that now "understand" how to build players will now have to re-learn this new player build format. They will either learn it or try to learn or say forget it. This happens when major changes are implemented or formats change with any game and software.

If by "understand", you mean people that don't really understand, then I completely agree.

There's nothing to learn, build mechanics are still the same, speed is still speed, strength is still strength, and it still costs you 2SP to build past 48.07. The added SAs work no differently than adding them with AEQ.

If you think that it is the same the why is there 60+ pages of discussion about this new format and how to build players.

Yea, see the answer above and I never claimed to be one of them.

Because people are intimidated by changes, especially when they have a long term plan laid out

But mainly because nobody reads the thread. Those 60 pages are full of the same questions and objections over and over, 99% of which were dealt with in the OP. There wasn't any new points brought up after page 5 for the most part.

If you read Rage Kinards guide, (which is about as universally accepted as anything gets on GLB):

http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=3266213

Nothing in that guide change because of archetypes.

To clarify Bukowski's post, if you understand how to build, you should understand that the principals don't change with archetypes.

If you just understand how to follow a build guide, then you're probably screwed until somebody writes a new one..

I think awareness of the majors will help create more parity at the lower levels, just given the fact that when a casual player creates a new player currently, they typically have no idea what the majors and minors are for a position. For instance, they want to build a good running FB, so they start dumping SP into speed. This enables them to build abit more intuitively.

it will create more parity by making less attribute build diversity.

Builds are not becoming any less diverse than they are now, they are becoming more diverse just not to a degree that you would have preferred, stop being retarded

so you would like to see near identical attributes on 2 "totally different" types of builds? Choosing archetypes should be a whole build thing, not just picking and choosing which SAs you want.

Your post implied that archetypes will change the game by making builds less diverse

That statement is retarded, so I called you retarded for making it.

What I'd like to see has nothing to do with it.

But builds WILL be less diverse. Only difference will be SAs. So how is stating a fact retarded?

Because you are trying to claim that giving people small innate differences between builds will somehow make them less diverse than having no innate differences in builds.
