...between the die-hard and casual player? Or will it essentially stay the same?

I think awareness of the majors will help create more parity at the lower levels, just given the fact that when a casual player creates a new player currently, they typically have no idea what the majors and minors are for a position. For instance, they want to build a good running FB, so they start dumping SP into speed. This enables them to build abit more intuitively.

Meh, the gulf will be nearly the same.

Have you seen the walls of gold some players have on their VA lists? Clearly, these people don't read a thing. Agents with TEs that have points in Natural Leader will do the funkiest things with their players.

i think it will widen the gap in some areas (ie owners that just recruit people willy nilly. usually newer owners.) but owners that go out and recruit for certain archetypes to fit the scheme, i think it will create more parity. not all offensive schemes will bode well against the same defense. same for the other way around. a hard hitting run focused defense will stuff a running team. but when faced with a deep passing game, they are going to have issues.

Organized teams with good agents will be even more dominant imo...gives more versatility to builds and specialization...

Stupid people are what we thought they were. They can't be helped.

I think in a lot of cases (but certainly not all) it will help smart but inexperienced players.

I bet 50% of GLB doesn't know the archetypes are coming still.

I think a lot of people operate completely without the forum, or even the announcements. The click their dot to train, click the marketplace to place and add, accept the biggest offer, and keep building their guy completely oblivious to the fact that he sucks balls against anyone but the 12 CPU teams he faces.

Hmm, now that I write it all out like that, sounds kinda nice.

The people who don't know what is going on are the type that will be shit no matter what changes occur in the game because they have no idea either way.

I think many of these folks have popped their head into the archetype threads in the past couple days.

"You're forcing me to build a powerback now? What if I don't want to build a powerback?

RIOT!!!!!!!!!!"

I think just the fact that more players will be aware of the majors for each archetype on creation will help even the most casual of player. Right now, you have many people pumping up attributes on minors, with no concept of the ALG. The guy who is building the fast receiving FB can't help from benefit just by selecting the scatback archetype. Same thing for someone who wants to build a strength based WR, before he was guaranteed to get nothing for his early investments into strength, at least now he gets some return.

It seems like it will increase the chance of someone accidentally building a decent dot.

A little.

They will still pump up a minor or a no gainer just like they do now before caring about a major!

I think they do that now because they don't know what the majors are. Presumably, the majors and minors would be listed on the archetype at creation.

Right now, there is little reason to suspect making a fast FB or a strong WR early will completely wreck your player down the line.

We really need to make it so RAGEs guide to player building is the first thing new players see. Or at least a "hey it's beneficial to cap attributes" bubble somewhere. When I first started I was like "you want 2 SP for that now? screw that, I'm nobodies fool!"
