We've discussed this with Bort and he's evaluating whether to change it or not. For right now, we're not going to change it so I thought it was important that every one know that this option is available and that it is not currently considered a bug or an exploit. I wanted it to have it's own thread so that it stood out and was not buried in the Bort Speak thread.

If you target a back whose default action is to block and select him for all the custom progressions, the play turns into a running play for the QB. Not sure it's an exploit per se but probably shouldn't be able to target a player who can't go out for a route:

Here the play is Pro Set Post Corner and the progressions are set to HB-HB-HB-HB-HB - well since the HB stays in to block, he never goes out for a route so the QB ends up running the ball:

Why not just add run in QB progressions? Thanks for letting us all know. Great work

That's something that needs to be discussed, coded, tested, etc. We're working on getting a lot of the bugs fixed, and doing some pretty heavy discussion on changes that will occur with the Archetype release. Not to say it won't happen, because I'm sure it will eventually, it just hasn't been a hot topic.

Although, personally, I do think we should add some sort of "tuck and run" option into the WR progression since we're going to be releasing, and encouraging, scrambling quarterbacks. Discussion has briefly mentioned an option, though, and I'm sure that would directly lead to this being fixed.

In the thread on the test server, we mentioned having to pass a vision check to actually tuck and run, and also have the ability to "skip" that, just like a normal progression, if the defense was spying or in position to make a quick play.

Thanks. It sucks that I have wasted FPs on creating a Dual Threat QB and can't use him now due to tagging.

If you can't use him due to tagging, he isn't a dual threat QB.

I tried this with Weak I Streaks....

Unless the QB gets free on his own, he won't run; or he has to go through all those reads before he does it. I don't think it would happen too often. Now having that option in your progessions would be cool.

Really how do you figure. If I use the crappy QB running plays they have, and he is tagged, he will get stuffed for a loss. So the only thing I can do is pass. I guess I should have been more specific. Tagging has made running with my Duel threat QB useless.

Yeah I tried it today in a scrim. It only got called twice. Both times my Oline didn't give him enough time to pull it down and run.

Word of caution, though...If the rushers are spaced fairly well, it results in a lot of sacks. Tried it out in a pvt scrim. Out of 7 attempts, all sacks

My QBs do pretty decent even though they get tagged. I don't average 80 yards a pop on those teams, but I do get a respectable 6-8, and sometimes more.

It would also help if your QB could throw when the safeties blitz.

I'm not trying to be an ass but are we talking about Pro level QBs? Also I would love it if the QB could change the play at the LOS. Just like the way QBs can keep HB/FB/TE in to block. Just for QB running plays they have a chance to pass a vision check. If they do they can check to a predetermined passing play out of that same formation.

And the defenses would get to change too.

If the sim doesn't give you the option to run on designed passing plays, he isn't a threat

No, not passing with a "dual threat" QB made him useless...DUCY?
