Ok, so I have the beginnings of progression overrides uploaded to the test server, via outputs and packages, though it's pretty simple and simpy 5 pulldowns with receiver options. Additional items like "run" or "ditch" will require some changes to how things work, or some thinking on how to make them happen, since those things are currently entirely based on QB personal tactics and pressure.

I need to do some thinking about how to approach the playbook idea, though I think that'd be a good thing as well. I added a pulldown for "use default" that you have to change to activate the override option.

We've got a start on this, at the very least.

Great news Bort.

Since the progression system is a simple 5 progression pull down list, adding the running and grounding options probably aren't feasible as part of this system. How about a "Run For 1st Down" slider to replace the Scrambling Options drop down box? As it is now "Scrambling Options: Often" really isn't very often at all.

All it would need to be is the QB looking for enough space between himself and the first down marker to make the play himself. QB's see this as they look at the receivers in reality, but I suppose a vision check would be required in GLB. This would be an automatic check, every QB would have to make it on every pass play. The slider would simply be the percentage in which the QB takes off when he sees that he has the room to run.

Would that work better?

True that, in D-League, Scrambling Options on often works 3/10 of the time. How about an order on vision check for looking to run, that relies on vision, so it becomes useful.

EDIT: This will also help RQB survive better in Pro League.

Curious....

Lets say we get that set up. Setting up my offense I find a hole in the defense I want to target. I choose the Single back cross up play, but I want the HB to be looked at first. I set up my progressions. In practice, will I be able to use that play for the short routes that I want or will the fact that the play is a 'long WR' play with emphasis on 'LONG' make it a moot point. The play being designed for long passes overrides the fact that the player is wide open so the QB holds the ball or moves on. What I see on the test server with passing makes me believe that there will be a lot left desired.

I've been asking for these for seasons now. Both are great ideas.

Just a (few) question(s)... how should the progressions interact with the QBs Passing Priority setting?
If you have Passing Priority set to balanced, so half way between route distance and open man, should this then mean that the QB waits until his first progression completes 50% of his route before deciding on whether to either throw to him or to move on to the next progression?
Would a risk-slider be an idea? So we can either make our man a Favre or a Pennington?

That is great news. Thanks for fleshing it out Kirghiz.

Good idea on placement of the options.

You need to expand a bit more on the block progression dynamics. Does the player automatically know who to block based on progression, or does he have to make vision checks down the line? If he fails his vision check, what happens? Does he block that guy even if he's not blitzing? Does he fall back to "block anyone?" Does he stand around and wait to look at the next guy? The block progression there works differently than the current method, that looks at player x/y position, not their position they are playing.

I think zone blocking should be used so there wont be any blocking problems so if a defender enters in that zone the lineman will pick it up or am I wrong

and this is where vision will have any relevance with O-linemen better vision better zone blocking
