To try and promote a little forum acitivity I thought I would give a feeble attempt at ranking some of the top teams who will be looking to capture the league trophy, moving them into the Gold league.
The early favorites: These are teams that performed well against some of the toughest competition in PeeWee and I fully expect these teams to be around in the semi-finals with one of them capturing the trophy.
Crib Midgets:
This team failed in their quest to three-peat L10 but still boasts a strong group of agents and team management and they will be early favorites in the West.
Mexico City LIttle Cougars:
They have been a playoff calibre team from L10 in the past before coming on strong last season. Another team with strong ownership and agents.
Andromedia Strain:
Another solid team who put up big wins in the rough and tumble L5. Without Short Bus and Insane Asylum to slow them down this will be a very strong team.
Eugene Cobras:
L19 is not known for being a super strong league, but this team had an impressive run last year and they appear to be the real deal with only the eventual champion Mercenaries ending their playoffs.
Teams that could contend: I see these teams as having strong regular season records and making playoffs as they will likely beat up on most of the league except when facing the above teams, where there will be some close losses and the odd win. With solid gameplanning and strong team work, these teams are fully capable of knocking off the above teams and pulling off an upset.
Flint Frenzy:
They performed well in L20 but they have no OC, and a thin roster at this point. While they have certainly shown they can be competitive, I don't see them making a big splash in the playoffs without some key changes.
Hartford Shocks:
Hailing from L17 this is another team that did well against their league's weaker teams but struggled against the stronger teams. Like Flint they still have some holes in their roster, but they look to have decent management so they have some sleeper potential.
Pee Wii Warmageddons:
Another L19 team and another example of a team still waiting to take that next step against stiff competition. However, they have solid leadership and seeing as they are associated with a Minor's team, I have to beleive these guys know what they are doing. A team to watch.
UFC Gladiators:
This team has a full roster yet judging by their record and competition last year their results have been a mixed bag. Another example of a team that has not been able to win the big games against the stronger teams in L2, which is considered to be a middle of the road league.
Tamriel PW Oblivion:
L12 has decent competition and this team did weil. Unlike the above teams, Tamriel demonstrated its toughness by beating the favoured Trumbull Eagles last year. I always have some concerns on teams where the owner holds every roster spot but time will tell if this is an issue.
The rest of the heap: This is where the remaining teams are situated. I was tempted to place Fairfax Rampage in the above category, but with a roster of under 40 players right now I couldn't do it. There are some paper champions here that boast solid records from last year but feature rosters that are half full or less; Chicago Warriors, Elite Proving Grounds, Springfield Silly Nannies, New Mexico Bandits, and Edmonton Junior Thunderchiefs. While their records are decent, given their current state it is unreasonable to consider them stronger than other teams with less impressive records but a better starting point in terms for players and team personnel.
