I liked the simple approach:
- Select Formation
- Select Routes/Running Lane
- Select Drop (If Applicable)

Then, adding some sort of "practice" that can be done each day to increase "Play Knowledge" would be helpful. The basic plays that are already in the playbook would always be at 100%, though. Make low knowledge result in poor rolls, increasing dropped passes, missed blocks, etc.
