There could also be a very simple check to ensure that this was not abused. The majority of military members have a military email address. On the My Account screen, just have another email address option. The service member would be able to click on a "Deploying/Going TDY" option to "freeze" their account and then a "Unfreeze" button when they return.

Reasons aside, there should be planned ways to go inactive without being penalized, e.g. for vacation. The players could be put into a limbo of sorts without aging. I think they'd have to be released from their teams, though, because I can't imagine a means to keep them playing and paid.

I like it. The only part that might create issues is people who are pissed off about how the game is, using this to freeze their accounts until things are actually fixed to their liking, and then unfreezing it. Essentially their players would outlast the players of everyone who stuck through the "hard times".

Still it's not that big of a downside, and this is a pretty good idea for people who wouldn't abuse it.

If this is implemented it shouldn't be available only to military. It should be available to all.

There are other people who do equally important jobs who spend months at a time out of internet contact.

I'm not a big fan of the idea anyway. Getting someone to babysit the account is pretty easy.

And unless im mistaken its also against the Terms of Service to give out your password and thus having someone babysit your account for you... so that would result in a ban... if someone could clarify this for me that would be appreciated

i agree that this deserves to be an epic suggestion.

I'll certainly +1 this, especially with the "2 month" provision, though I think it should be 2 seasons. Anything shorter and people might start freezing their players at a certain level just to be at the right point for a capped team.

Saintedix endorses this idea.

I like the idea, but could it be used by disgruntled players to force a release from a team they are under contract to?
