There should be forums created for the predominant non-English speakers that visit GLB. I would imagine this would include German, French and Spanish at an absolute minimum. Then forum-specific Mods should be recruited that are bilingual, English and the forum language, to assist players that are ESL (English as a second language) or even non-English speakers with playing the game. This will increase GLB's accessibility and marketability, which is only a good thing.

[FORUMS]

An issue to consider is translation services for these non-English speakers when attempting to post to Suggestions, Bugs, team-specific forums, etc. This could potentially become time consuming, so a minimum of 2 mods per forum would be good.

- Have a top-level forum called "Foreign Languages", just like "Suggestions", "Bugs", "GLB", etc.
- Inside this forum have sub-forums for specific languages, such as "Spanish", "French", "Thai"
- These sub-forums would have forum-specific mods, i.e. "Spanish Mod", "French Mod", "Thai Mod".
- These forums would only be created once the Mod staffing could be obtained and properly vetted since they would be representing GLB.

[DIRECTING NEW USERS]

Option 1: Include links in the general welcome PM. Have a set of links at the top "Parlez-vous Francais? /french/forum/url", etc.

Option 2: Have users register which languages they speak at account creation. Send them PMs with only instructions for languages they have chosen to find forums for their languages.

[HELPING USERS FIND TEAMS IN THEIR LANGUAGE]

Option 1: Let teams register what languages they speak, and make it a searchable/public piece of data.

Option 2: Have Support flag these teams to prevent abuse/baiting of non-English speakers.

Thanks to all who contributed to this thread, which lead to this enhanced OP.
Thanks to DrkSandman for formatting/organizing assistance.

There are 2 forums for alternative language speakers. Many of them are not used apprpriately though. You can check out the west and east europe forums.

This thread was made in response to a specific request from DrkSandman. And League-specific forums do not meet the overall point or goal of this suggestion. How would a new player know to go there?

I wouldn't just look at German/French/Spanish, I'm sure there is a large asian market. I know there was a team in one of the my SA leagues (SA AA3) that was made up solely of Thai players (I hope they were Thai, my memory could be mistaking Thailand with another country). TuckiTucky is the owner, overall good guy, and his english is decent.

I'm sure there are other teams out there of similar nature.

Sure, whatever languages we can find support for. Hence my "at a minimum"

I think you worded the OP pretty well. Anyone care to refine?

Seems fine.

However, I'd like there to be something welcoming players that don't speak English well into at least the FAQ forum, my foreign languages are ok but I'm sure we could help. It seems they stay away though.

Perhaps an FAQ forum in each languages forum? That seems to be one of the most important for new players.

Maybe Bort could toss something in to the automatic PM that is sent to new users, pointing them to the forums?

k, but let's not post things in a Suggestions thread that requires me to run to google, please.

Would there be enough demand to put the Alternative Language Forums right under FAQ/GLB? As long as FFA doesn't attack it I think it'd be of some use.

I agree, and I think think this suggestion should be implemented, but taking caution as who to be the "reprensative mods" for the other non-english native language forums is another thing, as they utimately decide the expierence (good/bad) of the non-english native speakering player's overall GLB experience.....a.k.a. GLB could lost revenue based on the action of these invidiual players/agents/mods/"representatitives".

Just a thought, but I do think this suggestion is good, +1 , and is overdue.

It does mention them for a brief bit, but it's in English you see. They can't read it.

Don't ever worry about not suggesting something because another group may attack. That's easily fixed with a few clicks.

I would *guess* Bort would put them in the GLB section, so yeah they would be right in there.
