It might seem unreasonable to change sports right now. But heres how it breaks down in the NBA currently

15 teams have a winning home record and losing away record
ZERO teams have a losing home record and winning away record

You can argue it is completely different bc it is basketball, but home field is more pronounced as you play more game, so how could you say it doesn't exist with that simple stat

Including:

Charlotte who is 18-5 at home 5-17 on the road
Or Milwaukee 15-7 5-18

It exists! for real.

Really? Think about this. I really hope you never actually did this and that this is a lie or I misread what you typed
Google's first hit says home field is actually just 1 or 2 points in the NFL http://www.twominutewarning.com/hfa.htm

I'm not saying anything about home field advantage. What I am saying is his "study" makes no sense. If you study EVERY GAME IN THE NFL obviously, the W/L ratio will be even. When a team loses, that means another one won. He said it was almost even.

How about doing that study on the college game?

+10000 to this idea. It only makes sense. Every single level of football that has a home field, has a home field advantage, whether it be crowd noise that increases likelyhood of false starts, or a south team playing in the snow like the Vikings before they moved to a dome and Packers, or like Heinz Field, where the wind is such a factor, it makes it near impossible to kick more than 50 yards.

I like it very good idea

NFL schedules are balanced with home & homes versus divisional opponents, but with locations being allocated randomly in GLB this could create significant advantages for some teams over others depending on who they get scheduled home versus away. I'd rather not see that be the deciding factor in who finishes 8th or 9th.

+1 to your thought, -1 to the home field advantage idea

I like it also. You could make Home Field Advantage a SA or a VA for each team. Call it the 12th Man giving bonuses to the home team. But you would also need balance too. Some teams are very adept at playing on the road. Call it "Road Warriors" so that the away team can get just as much a benefit as the home team.

There is a VA called 'Home Team Hero' that already exists. People that get the warm and fuzzies over home team advantage should take it.

Maybe even $ investments into infrastructure like sound systems and jumbotrons for something like a confidence penalty, an increased rate of false starts, possibly triggered when the game is close, there's a key turnover, something of that sort? That could be kind of cool.

However, a strict bonus to the home team in every game provides NOTHING in terms of gameplay other than minimizing all of the things owners, coaches, coordinators, GMs and players do to win games. I'm happy for people that really love their childhood memories of going to Raider/Husker/Celtics/Red Wings/WHATEVER games and yelling and cheering and things going their way for it, but that has absolutely nothing to do with the way that WE INTERACT with THIS GAME.

I mean it a a new concept at a TEAM SA or VA rather than an individual player SA or VA.
