Forum > Goal Line Blitz > Position Talk > I'm going to build an entire team of non-boosters. Any advice?

I was wondering about a few things. First, how would a team of 100% non-boosters do by the time they got to year 10?

Second, should I build two speed DEs and two strength DEs? Or should I build them all the same?

Same question for CBs, and LBs. Wonder if I should have some slow/strong guys and some speed guys, or just keep them identical for substitution purposes.

I was planning on building a powerback and a speedback though. As well as a blocking/receiving TE.

Was wondering if anyone had any thoughts.

I would go with the variety over building all the same. you'll be able to "roll with the punches" easier as things change much from season to season.

I think you could be very competitive, just not in the higher leagues.

Here's the most important question though... Will they have Custom Equipment? Sometimes I think Custom Equipment is more important than Boosting, especially in a situation like this.

I'm not planning on boosting or buying custom equipment. I'll buy them all standard equipment. I'm currently in an A league, and assuming I don't get lowered to BBB, I think they'll ultimately win A and have a shot at winning AA (when they're all level 41.

They'll all be slow builds, soft capped primaries, and I want to get all their builds right from the start.

It's really an experiment to see how they do. Once they peak I might also consider buying some higher level boosters, should have a boatload of cash saved by then (going to max the stadium before I start).

Also not sure if I'll keep and use my current level 4/3 guys or start from scratch with level 1s.

I think they can definitely be competitive eventually as long as you build them right.

I would think you'll definitely get lowered to BBB when you have a roster full of level 1s though.

I would suggest starting with all Level 1s. If your gonna be in it for the long haul, you might as well have the whole team peak at the same time.

Pointless idea imo. There's nothing wrong wih non-boosters but having an entire team full of non-boosters would mean that no matter how well they're built and wherever they play there will always be multiple better teams in your league because they boost.

After level 27 a player can only get 2600XP max per season, your team's players will only be going up 2-3 levels per season whereas boosters will go up 5-6 levels each season.

Yeah what viscount said. You should be able to pull of some BBB or A league victories for 10 seasons but I doubt you will ever contend any higher than that due to the eventual level/VA gap your team will face.

On a fun/cost ratio alone, this is a great idea. It really only costs 400 flex per season.

Who cares if you don't make it to the pro's, or even AA, just lower your expectations and have fun.

This is a good way to look at it. Start with a pee wee team and see what you can pull off with it. Now you have me interested.

It might be interesting to build an entire special teams unit of non boosters.

With very few points in SAs and the 15% to all attributes from the VA, with focussed builds, it might be possible to design an excellent unit.

My advice to you would be not to spend SAs for the first 25 levels, take the base stats high and then at lvl 25 decide if you want to continue with the team or if you solely want to develop an excellent special teams unit. It would be interesting to see if a non-boosting ST unit could play at Pro level.

Now your thinking great, but I don't want to resign a new roster every season. Well you won't have to. That's because the cap does not apply to renegotiations. If think about it how could it, capped teams already have players above the cap and those players are not kicked off because their level got too high. So, don't worry you will be able to resign those players come offseason.

If that's true, I can see a team of trust worthy non-boosters in a casual league working out well. You'd hope/expect that other teams with boosters will eventually get bored and leave the casual league.(can't sign new players over the perma-cap)

If you can keep together a group of non-boosters who won't leave your team for whatever reason, I can see you being a competitive team in casual leagues.

That was my plan. Eventually high level players will want to leave, making teams having to sign LV 16 or 24 players while my entire team stays together. This way I don't have to worry about anyone leaving and I don't have to recruit (which is a pain in the ass on both sides).

I like it lol, although I'd hate to do it in casual b.c of no AI's.

It's what we did. We're in Season 3 of the process. We're in Canada BBB #5 and most players are Level 21 right now. We do have a couple players that aren't from our first season, but they were acquired to help with stamina issues and one is my player I bought so I could retire him at the end of the season.

Season 6 - 2-14
Season 7 - 7-9
Season 8 - 12-2, look to end 13-3

We're usually outleveled by 12-20 levels at each position and we don't have any VAs, either. Also, I'd say 90% of the roster does not have custom equipment. Our goal wasn't to make it to the Pros, it was simply just to have some fun and not break the bank since I believe flex cost too much if you want to have multiple players and boost them.
