In real football a qb has an entire bag of tricks he can use in terms of pass velocity. GLB does not reflect this, qb's in GLB always use the same pass velocity regardless of coverage or route distance. We need an update to the pass velocity tactics. With the advent of the running style slider, and the route creativity drop down menu we need to upgrade some of the qb tactics as well.

What I propose is have a slider that dictates the pass velocity for each type of coverage situation and route distance.

How it would work is you would have a list of coverage situations(just like the current drop down menu for the throw away thresh hold). Underneath each coverage situation is a slider for pass velocity. Slider all the way to the left is a loft pass; all the way to the right is a bullet pass.

Qb's also need these to combine with a series of route distance sliders. Repeating the process with route distance and a velocity slider. Then have it operate like the AI does and have it check against itself in a top down manner, so it would first check the coverage situation sliders then the distance sliders. Then it would choose a match and then throw a pass.

deep routes

timing routes(curl paterns, fade routes)?(not sure about this one)

then have it check against itself in a top down manner like how the AI engine works

route breaking logic for recievers in a series of dropdown menus and sliders

not sure about the time alloted(ticks)

also have a scramble frequency slider to couple with the drop down menu

QB throwing style by bert http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=1763102

Every QB uses everyone of these, if the guy is wide open you do not need to throw it as hard as you can and if you need to throw it in a tight spot you might want to put a little extra on it.

The QB should have an intelligence ability or some kind of ability to know when to throw each pass. You shouldn't throw one or the other every time.

Or have a slider

Cautious........Medium.........Risky

The higher you set it, the more chances the QB will take throwing the football into tight spaces or to receivers that aren't open.

How about sliders for three scenarios:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Close game
Game manager-----------Solid--------------Gunslinger
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Losing big
Game manager-----------Solid---------------Gunslinger
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Winning big

Pass Situation:

Long Pass, Covered:
Loft<--->Bullet

Long Pass, Open:
Loft<--->Bullet

Short Pass, Covered:
Loft<--->Bullet

Short Pass, Open:
Loft<--->Bullet

That what you mean? If yes then the question I wonder about is - how many people wouldn't choose: Bullet, Loft, Bullet, Loft to try and get the benefits of easy to catch when open and hard to intercept when covered.

kind of, thats why I added pass distance also and have it work top down like the ai, and just because he's open doesn't mean a loft pass is the best type of throw to make. if it were two seperate tactics options (coverage/route distance) I think it would work better

i like the idea. A QB in most situations, unless your Brett Favre, isnt going to throw a bullet pass to the HB on a screen and isnt going to loft one up in the air on tightly covered routes.

There should be more options on this in my opinion. No need to throw a bullet to someoone that is wide open and make the catch harder.

Actually i like this. I do not think the game has the QB reading coverages. It wold be nice but an easy fix is what is proposed. Especially if you use a sliding sclae

I think a QB should determine these kind of things his own depending on vision and confidence.

I'm also going to add route break logic in terms of a series of drop down menus and a slider system into the OP, just give me a sec to work it out.
